Second Reading and Adoption of an Ordinance relating to Compensation for
Human Services Commission Members

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
At the August 20, 2013 meeting, the City Council discussed a Human Services Commission and
adopted the related resolutions and ordinances necessary to create the Commission. This is
the second reading of the Ordinance relating to Compensation for Human Services Commission
Members.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The Fiscal Year 2013-2014 adopted budget includes sufficient funds to cover these expenses.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council waive the second reading and adopt the Ordinance
relating to Compensation for Human Services Commission Members.

DESCRIPTION:
At their August 20, 2013 meeting, the City Council adopted a resolution creating a Human
Services Commission. The City Council also waived the first reading and introduced the
ordinance relating to Compensation for Human Services Commission Members (Attachment 1).
The ordinance states that Human Services Commissioners shall be paid $50 for each meeting
attended to a maximum of two meetings in a calendar month. This is consistent with
compensation received by Commissioners on the Planning, Parks and Community Services,
and Heritage and Cultural Arts Commissions.

Staff is requesting the City Council waive the second reading and adopt the Ordinance relating
to Compensation for Human Services Commission Members.

OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN

RELATING TO COMPENSATION FOR
HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION MEMBERS
The City Council of the City of Dublin does ordain as follows:
Section 1:
Human Services Commission members shall be paid $50 for each meeting attended to a
maximum of two meetings in a calendar month, provided that Commission members shall
not be deemed to be City employees by virtue of such payment.
Section 2: Effective Date and Posting of Ordinance
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days from and after the date of its
final adoption. The City Clerk of the City of Dublin shall cause this Ordinance to be posted in
at least three (3) public places in the City of Dublin in accordance with Section 36933 of the
Government Code of California.
