FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: On June 23, 2009 the City Council approved the Heritage &
Cultural Arts Goals and Objectives, as presented in Attachment 1. The Council concurred with the
Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission's recommendation of eleven goals in FY 2009-2010. The Council
also agreed with the Commission's recommendation for priority rankings for all eleven goals
Additionally, based on input from the Commission at the Goals and Objectives Study Session on
February 7, 2009, the Council added two additional goals:
Goal# 10: Work with Camp Parks to preserve its history during the redevelopment of the facility.
Goal#11: Obtain and preserve the oral histories of Dublin seniors and long-time residents.
Carry over goals from FY 2008-2009 include:
Goal # 3: Work with the developer to locate significant works of art in two key places of the Dublin Transit
Center, the Campbell Green and the "Iron Horse"Plaza. An update on this project will be presented at the July 9"'
meeting of the Commission.
Goal # S: Implement a self study and peer review for the Phase II Museum Assessment Program (MAP) —Public
Dimension Assessment for the Dublin Heritage Center. In the fall, an Assessor from the MAP program will be
assigned to meet with Staff. A one—time workshop will be held with the Commission and stake-holders such as
DHPA representatives to provide input to the Assessor to develop a plan for the Phase II process.

Goal # 6: Facilitate the selection of public art as a condition of approval for two (2) Private Development
projects. This goal's timeline will be dependent on the ability of developers to move forward with their projects in '
the coming year.
Goal # 12: Implement Phase It of the Downtown Public Art/Bus Shelter Project including; design,fabrication
and installation of student art murals. This CIP project has been deferred for a period of two years by the City
Council since the LAVTA RAPID BUS TRANSIT (BRT) project was approved to replace the designated bus
shelters on Dublin Boulevard.
Goal#13: Work with BART to incorporate high quality artwork as part of the West Dublin BART Station Project
provided funding is available. The project design will include an area for public art but the developer has no
funding available to include public art.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission
receive the report.

High 1. 2009 Upon re-location of the Kolb properties to the Dublin Historic Park, complete
furnishing of buildings and catalogue/accessioning of the collections of the Kolb
family.
High 2. 2009 Establish facility operations, policies and fees for public use of the Kolb properties
at the Dublin Historic Park.
High 3. 2004 Work with the developer to locate significant works of art in two key places of the
Dublin Transit Center,the Campbell Green and the"Iron Horse"Plaza.
High 4. 2009 Expand core class offerings in the arts and strategically schedule classes to best
meet the needs of the community.
High 5. 2007 Implement a self study and peer review for the Phase 11 Museum Assessment
Program (MAP)—Public Dimension Assessment for the Dublin Heritage Center.
High 6. 2008 Facilitate the selection of public art as a condition of approval for two(2)Private
Develo ment projects.
High 7. 2009 Expand the current volunteer/docent program for the Dublin Heritage Center by
30%.
High 8. 2009 Develop and publish a booklet about the history of the Kolb family for sale to the
public.
High 9. 2009 Conduct a ark/facility dedication event for the Dublin Historic Park,Phase I.
High 10. 2009 Work with Camp Parks to preserve its history during the redevelopment of the
facility.
