SUBJECT: Roberts Rules of Order and Brown Act training

RECOMMENDATION: Receive report.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: City Clerk Caroline Soto will provide training on Roberts Rules of Order and
the Brown Act to the Youth Advisory Committee Members. Roberts Rules of Order is a set of rules for
conduct at meetings that allows everyone to be heard and to make decisions without confusion. The
Brown Act solely applies to California City and county government agencies, boards, commissions and
councils. The intent of the Brown Act is to ensure that members of public boards, commissions and
councils, that their actions at a meeting be taken openly and that their deliberations be conducted
openly.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Youth Advisory Committee receive the report.
