DESCRIPTION: The owner of the Kids Again consignment store on Village Parkway has advised Staff that an increased number of employees at the Dublin Post Office is causing a parking problem on Viiiage Parkway which affects patrons of the store. She requested that the City provide lime- 'limited on-street parking in front of the building which houses the consignment store, as well as Dublin Plumbing Supply. ' After revieWini the'On-street parking in thii ~i"g't:aff zi~t~d thi tlidre is a whit~ curb in front of the Pgst .... office. A white curb normally designateS' a passenger loading zone. In 1990, the i~ity Council adopted an ordinance repealing ~ passenger loading zone and establishing a 20-minute parking zone in front of the Post Office, but it appears this change was not made on the street Unrestricted parking would now be of more benefit to the post office than either a passenger loading zone Or limited parking. g:hgenmlsc\one hour pkg vpw COPIES .TO: Plumbing Supply Dublin Post Office, Kids Again, Dublin 'C .' :-',';.; ITEM NO. ~ Because the existing public record states that this area is a 20-minute parking zone, it is recommended that the City Council repeal the 20-minute parking zone in front of the Post Office and approve establishment of the one-hour parking zone in front of the consignment store / plumbing supply building. These two actions would provide 111 feet (or five to six car lengths) of one-hour parking and 96 feet (five car lengths) oft{nrestricted parking. There are existing' areas of red curb near the driveways of both the post .office and consignment store that should remain in place for sight distance purposes. Staff has contaqted a representati. ve of the Post Office ragard~ng this ~h~nge and has received concurrence with the Staff recommendation. ' ' Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a public hearing, deliberate, adopt the resolution ' establishing the one-hour parking zone, and waive the reading and introduce the ordinance repealing the 20-minute parking zone.
