CiTY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: August 5, 2003
SUBJECT: Use of City Seal on Livermore/Amador Valley Transit Authority
(LAVTA) Short Range Transit Plan
Report Prepared by: Richard C. Ambrose, City Manager
ATTACItMENTS: Email from LAVTA requesting use of the City Seal
RECOMMENDATION:~Gr?nGrant use of the City Seat to LAVTA for inclusion in its Short Range
Transit Plan.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: In April 2002, the City Council adopted a policy that the Seal of the
City of Dublin shall not be used to support, promote or sponsor any event, program or endeavor that is not
an exclusive activity of the City without approving action by the City Council at any duly called or
scheduled meeting. Use of the City Seal in conjunction with such activities is to be considered on a case-
by-case basis and on such criteria as the City Council determines appropriate.
The City recently received an email request from the Livermore/Amador Valley Transit Authority
(LAVTA) regarding the possible use of Dublin's City Seal for inclusion in LAVTA's Short Range Transit
Plan, which will be published in late-August. The Short Range Transit Plan is a 10- year planning
document, which is required by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), and details the
transit operation and outlines LAVTA's future plans.
LAVTA is a public entity formed under a Joint Powers Agreement with three Tri-Valley cities (Dublin,
Pleasanton and Livermore), as well as the County of Aflarneda. The Dublin City Seal, along with the seals
of the other Cities and County, would be used in the first chapter of the document, which discusses
LAVTA's relationship with these government entities.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the Council grant use of the City Seal to LAVTA for inclusion in its Short Range
Transit Plan.

Fawn,
Thanks for doing this for us. LAVTA is interested in incorporating the Iogos of all three cities and alameda county
in our Short Range Transit Plan. The SRTP is a 10 year planning document which is required by HTC detailing
the transit operation and outlining our future plans. The logo would be used in the first chapter of the document,
that discusses our government relationship. LAVTA is a public entity formed under a Joint Powers Agreement
with all 3 cities in the tri-valley as well as ala co. We'd just like to have a graphical representation of that in the
tP_,xt...kind of add some color to it.
Please let me know if ! can help further...
Thanks!
