DESCRIPTION: In December of 2002, Jeffrey Pickens of the Boy Scouts of America
Troop 922 of Dublin approaChed the Dublin Senior Center staff to complete his Eagle Scout Project. The
project entailed construction of four (7' X 6') dividers. The dividers are made up of two (42" X 72")
panels hinged together and covered with white vinyl on both sides of the panel. They help to create
privacy while Senior Center patrons receive special services, including Foot Care, Legal CoUnseling, and
other activities provided at the Center.
The project from start to finish took approximately six months and a total of 98.5 volunteer hours to
complete. The steps involved selecting and getting his project approved by the Boy Scouts Council to the
construction of the panels/dividers. Jeffrey estimates that he spent 24 hours planning the project, 21 hours
carrying out the project, and utilized 53.5 hours of friends and family members time to assist him. The
panels were completed and delivered to the Senior Center in May 2003.
In appreciation for his efforts, it is the recommendation of Staff that Jeffery Pickens be formally
recognized by the City Council with a Certificate of Appreciation.
