Foss, Acting City Manager SUBJECT: Recognition of Dublin Participants in the Tri-Valley Restaurant Month Campaign Prepared by Erin Steffen, Administrative Analyst II EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Tri-Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau, now referred to as Visit Tri-Valley, organized the th 4 Annual Tri-Valley Restaurant Month campaign, which took place in January 2014. Both Visit Tri-Valley and the City conducted a variety of outreach efforts to promote the event to local restaurants and regional restaurant-goers including an Instagram photo contest. Many Tri-Valley establishments participated in the event, including nine Dublin restaurants. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council present the participating Dublin restaurants with Certificates of Appreciation for their involvement in Visit Tri-Valley’s Restaurant Month. Reviewed By Acting Assistant City Manager DESCRIPTION: During January 2014, the Tri-Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau, commonly referred to as Visit th Tri-Valley, organized the 4 Annual Tri-Valley Restaurant Month, as part of the State’s California Restaurant Month campaign. Created in 2011, Tri-Valley Restaurant Month highlights the diversity of the Tri-Valley dining scene, drawing attention to local vibrant and distinctive eateries. The goal of the event is to position the Tri-Valley among the top culinary destinations in the Bay Area by increasing awareness of the many dining opportunities available as well as stimulating business and revenue for restaurants throughout the Tri-Valley. Visit Tri-Valley promoted Restaurant month in an extensive regional marketing and advertising campaign. Additionally, the City of Dublin promoted the Restaurant Month campaign and ITEM NO. 3.4 Page 1 of 2 participating Dublin restaurants on the Shop Local – Discover Dublin Facebook page, as well as on the City’s website and in a local press release promoting the event. Restaurant Month grew considerably in 2014, with 36 establishments participating in this year’s event (up from 10 restaurants in 2013). Of that number, nine participants were Dublin restaurants, up from one participant in each of the past few years: 2014 Restaurant Month Dublin Participants Ballybunion Bar & Grille BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse Caps & Taps Casa Orozco Mexican Restaurant Coldstone Creamery / Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory Dublin Fish N Chips Fuddruckers Johnny Garlic’s Vito’s Express Pizza A new feature of this year’s event was an Instagram photo contest, where participating customers sent a photo of the meal with the hashtag #eattrivalley to be entered into drawings for gift cards.
