PLEDGE OPALLEGIANCE Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chairperson Rastogi. ROLL CALL Committee Members (CM) Present: Sruthi Mukkamala, James Wang,Neil Bedi,Nicki Butler, Kush Rastogi, Angie Wang, Jenny Dyer, Brooke Brunckhorst, Rebecca DeGuzman, Alexandra Padnos Committee Members Absent: Kayla Frierson, Audrey Nunez, Jessie Sher, Ben Sher, Shilp Kothari, Alicia Tran Liaison Present: Vivian Sung,Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison Staff Present: Frank Luna, Henry Siu, Officer Jeff Mecchi- Dublin Police Adult Member Absent: Ashley Wolfe ORAL COMMUNICATIONS— Committee Member Ratogi indicated that he is a member of the Dublin High School Robotics Club. He stated, "An item on this evening's agenda contains a request for funding to the Dublin High School Robotics Club from the Youth Advisory Committee for the Youth Mini Grant program. Due to being a member of the Youth Advisory Committee, I have a remote interest in the decision, and may not participate in the voting/recommendation of funding for the Mini Grant program. I hereby abstain from all participation in this matter, and ask that my vote not be counted in determining the recommendation of funding for the Youth Mini Grant program.” Committee Member Brunckhorst indicated that she is a member of the Dublin High School Irish Guard. She stated, "An item on this evening's agenda contains a request for funding to the Dublin High School Irish Guard from the Youth Advisory Committee for the Youth Mini Grant program. Due to being a member of the Youth Advisory Committee, I have a remote interest in the decision, and may not participate in the voting/recommendation of funding for the Mini Grant program. I hereby abstain from all participation in this matter, and ask that my vote not be counted in determining the recommendation of funding for the Youth Mini Grant program." MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING-December 4. 2013 ON A MOTION BY CM WANG, AND SECONDED BY CM PADNOS AND BY A VOTE OF 8-0- 2, THE YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF DECEMBER 4, 2013 AS PRESENTED. CMS DEGUZMAN AND PADNOS ABSTAINED DUE TO THEIR ABSENCE AT THE DECEMBER 4,2013 MEETING. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS-None UNFINISHED BUSINESS—None NEW BUSINESS Presentations from qualified Youth Mini Grant Applicants Qualified Youth Mini Grant Applicants provided a 5-minute presentation of their program/club which the Youth Advisory Committee Members evaluated. The applicants that provided presentations to the Youth Advisory Committee were: Dublin High School Room to Read Club, Dublin High School Future Business Leaders of America Club, Dublin High School Gael Force Robotic Club, Dublin High School Resonance Music Club, and Dublin High School Irish Guard. After listening to each club, Committee Members rated each group and provided a recommendation for funding each club. ON A MOTION BY CM BUTLER, SECONDED BY CM BEDI AND BY A VOTE OF 8-0-2, WITH COMMITTEE MEMBERS RASTOGI AND BRUNCKHORST ABSTAINING, THE COMMITTEE APPROVED FUNDING AMOUNTS TO THE QUALIFIED APPLICANTS FROM THE MINI GRANT PROGARM, DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL ROOM TO READ CLUB- $225, DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA CLUB-$175, DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL GAEL FORCE ROBOTIC CLUB-$350, DUBIN HIGH SCHOOL RESONANCE MUSIC CLUB-$100,AND DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL IRISH GUARD-$350 . OTHER BUSINESS— Staff Member Henry Siu encouraged Youth Advisory Committee Members to attend the Tri-Valley Teen and Career Job Fair on Saturday, March 1, 2014. The event will take place at the Pleasanton Senior Center. The event runs from 12 PM—4 PM. ADJOURNMENT Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:08 PM by Vice Chairperson Angie Wang.
