Roll Call Committee Members (CM) Present: Diane Bonetti, Faye Guarienti, Holly Ito, Ramona Krausnick, Eddie Jo Mack Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison: Connie Mack Staff Present: Frank Luna, Recreation Supervisor; Rhonda Franklin, Administrative Analyst; Diane Guenther, Office Assistant Oral Communications-None Approval of the Minutes CM GUARIENTI MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE DECEMBER 5, 2013 MINUTES. THE MOTION WAS SECONDED BY CM KRAUSNICK. THE SENIOR ADVISORY COMMITTEE APPROVED THE MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER MEETING BY A VOTE OF 4-0-1 WITH CM MACK ABSTAINING AS SHE WAS NOT PRESENT AT THE DECEMBER MEETING. Written Communication—None Unfinished Business-None New Business 7.1 ELECTION OF OFFICERS The Senior Center Advisory Committee conducted annual elections for Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. CM KRAUSNICK NOMINATED CM GUARIENTI FOR CHAIRPERSON. CM GUARIENTI ACCEPTED THE NOMINATION. CM MACK SECONDED THE NOMINATION. CM BONETTI NOMINATED CM KRAUSNICK FOR CHAIRPERSON. CM KRAUSNICK DECLINED THE NOMINATION. CM MACK SECONDED THE NOMINATION. CM MACK NOMINATED CM ITO FOR VICE CHAIRPERSON. CM ITO DECLINED THE NOMINATION, THERE WERE NO OTHER NOMINATIONS I FOR VICE CHAIRPERSON. BY A UNANIMOUS VOTE OF 5-0-0 THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ELECTED CM KRAUSNICK AS VICE CHAIRPERSON. 7.2 2013 FALL QUARTERLY REPORT Staff provided an informational overview of the 2013 Fail Quarterly report. Highlights included a 7% increase in Programs and Activities attendance and a 5% increase in total attendance. Special events included the annual Senior Information and Resource Fair which attracted approximately 425 participants. The 6th Annual Hometown Heroes Event attracted approximately 150 attendees to pay tribute to local veterans. The 3`a Annual Holiday Craft Boutique, sponsored by the City of Dublin and Dublin Senior Foundation, attracted 650 attendees and 71 vendors. i Chair Guarienti asked if participation was at an ail-time high, and Staff said yes. Chair Guarienti suggested seeking crafters from local craft stores to offer additional craft classes at the Senior Center. 7.3 APPOINTMENTS TO CAR SHOW SUBCOMMITTEE Staff provided an overview of the annual Dublin Community Car Show, Staff recommended forming a Subcommittee to assist Staff in the planning and coordination of the event. Chair Guarienti and CM Bonnetti volunteered to serve on the Subcommittee. I 7.4 SENIOR CENTER SPECIAL LUNCHEON FOR MARCH 2014 Staff reported a catered lunch will be offered on March 13th for the St. Patrick's Day Special Luncheon. Lunch will be catered by Green Lantern Catering, a popular local vendor. Entertainment will be provided by Mark Shaw, singer and fiddler. f Staff shared the flyer for the luncheon. Staff will continue to gauge the level of interest in continuing to offer catered luncheons. 7.5 LIVE HEALTHLY DUBLIN "STEP 2 IT CHALLENGE" The City of Dublin Parks and Community Services Department is inviting the public to participate in a community-wide event to motivate, educate, and empower residents to achieve optimal health through a customized wellness challenge. I I k CITY OF DUBLIN SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES OT FEBRUARY 6,2014 Page 3 of 3 This will be the second year of the Challenge. The Challenge kicks off on March 16th, the date of the City's Shamrock 5K Fun Run and Walk. The closing celebration will take place on May 29th at the Dublin Farmers' Market. Vice Chair Krausnick asked if the Live Healthy Dublin website would carry over account information from last year's event to this year. Staff will look into this and report back to the Advisory Committee, Staff stated this year's event will track steps and pedometers will be available for pick up during the St. Patrick's Day Festival at the Live Healthy Dublin booth. CM Mack asked if participants have to be Dublin residents, and Staff stated that anyone can participate. Other Business i CM Bonetti provided the Senior Foundation Report. The Boutique netted a $5,500 profit. Bingo is doing I very well and earned $5,400 in 2013 after expenses. Bingo attendance is up. There was no report on the marquee. Chair Guarienti asked if the Foundation will be participating in the Wednesday lunch program, and CM Bonetti stated the topic is tabled until the Senior Center Recreation Coordinator returns from leave. Commissioner Mack reported on the agenda topics for the December 2013 Parks and Community E Services Commission meeting. Chair Guarienti asked that Staff regularly provide a verbal report on the activities taking place at the Heritage Parks and Museums. Adjournment—10:25 AM.
