HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 121-93 SportsOfficialClassRESOLUTION NO. 121 - 93 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TPfE CITY OF DUBLIN AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN Wf~EREAS, in accordance with the Personnel System Rules, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 30-84 and subsequent amendments which comprise the Classification Plan; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that an additional part-time classification is needed for the Recreation Sports Program; and WHEREAS, the adoption of a job description is required for all authorized positions. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Resolution No. 30-84 and subsequent amendments shall be further amended to include the job description for Sports Official. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this document shall become a part of the official classification plan for the City of Dublin. PASSED, APPROVEDAN DAD OPTED this 8th day of November, 1993. NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None SPO'RTS OFFICIAL THE POSITION Under the supervision of the Sports League Director, officiates various sports league events, serves as the official scorer at such events, and performs related work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES · ~. Inspects playing area and equipment for safety and preparedness. · ~- Conducts sports contests in accordance with the rules of the game. · .'. Maintains control of the contest. · :. Supervises the scoring officials to insure proper timing and scoring of the event. °5- Observes all safety procedures in order to insure the safety of the players and the spectators. · :- Maintains good public relations and promotes good sportsmanship. · .'. Completes and submits any necessary reports to supervisor. · ~. Other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience o.'- Must be 16 years of age or older. · :o Prior experience as either a player or an official. Knowledge and Abilities · .'o Technical knowledge of the rules and regulations of the game. · :. Ability to engage in physical activity. · :. Ability to deal with the public in a polite and courteous manner. · :- Ability to exercise impartial judgement and objectivity. · .'- Ability to arbitrate disputes effectively and efficiently. · .'- Ability to promote good sportsmanship. Licenses and Certificates · :- Possession of a valid California Driver's License. · .'. Possession of or ability to obtain valid certification in Standard First Aid and CPR.
