The following is a summary of the 2013 winter quarter. A detailed attendance report can be found in Attachment 1. Daily Attendance 210 202 205 204 192 Total Volunteer Hours 3,074 3,521 3,429 3,231 3,012 The Senior Center experienced a 5% increase in Programs and Activities attendance, and 4% increase in total Senior Center attendance. Total volunteer hours decreased by 15%. Staff attributes this to a few long-time key volunteers who moved away or reduced their hours due to a variety of personal reasons. COPIES TO: G:ACOMMISSIONERS&COMMITTEES\SRADVCMTE\4-3-14 Item 7.1 Winterquarter Qtr.Report ITEM NO.: 7.1 Summary of the Winter Attendance Comparison The activity attendance show a significant growth in classes offered, such as the Ballroom Dance, Tai Chi Chuan, and Line Dance classes. December 2013 Highlights Holiday DancEscape Social Dance featuring the TNT band attracted 88 dance enthusiasts. Forty-one participants celebrated the special Holiday Luncheon with great entertainment by the Wells Middle School Jazz Band. The seniors enjoyed visiting Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in San Francisco. Ten participants learned how to make wreaths for the holidays. January 2014 Highlights • Twenty one participants enjoyed the New Year's special luncheon while being serenaded by singer, Jeff Wessman. • Two new ballroom dance classes were offered by a new contract instructor. Twenty-five students registered for the Tuesday afternoon classes and ten students on Thursday evenings. • Seniors enjoyed a guided tour of Oakland's Chapel of the Chimes, the Berkeley City Club, and the Julia Morgan Landmark Tour. February 2014 Highlights • A DancEscape Social Evening Dance, featuring the big band sounds of the Cooltones, attracted 77 dancers. • Steven Gary, singer & guitarist, entertained twenty-three seniors during the Friendship Luncheon. The Dublin Rotary donated roses for the attendees. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Senior Center Advisory Committee receive the report.
