DESCRIPTION:
Jose Tamayo serves the City of Dublin as a maintenance worker through the City’s contract with
MCE Corporation. Jose has been a valued member of the City of Dublin’s maintenance staff for
nearly 10 years.
On April 20, 2014, Jose and his family spent the day at the San Leandro Marina. During their
walk along the shoreline, Jose heard cries for help from a young girl who was in distress. Jose
immediately came to the girl’s aid and then realized that there was another child further into the
water. Jose handed the child to another Good Samaritan and swam out to rescue the boy.
Jose provided CPR until the paramedics arrived on scene. Due to Jose’s efforts, both children
survived this ordeal.
