DESCRIPTION:
The City of Dublin Parks & Community Services Department invited the public to participate in a
community -wide event to motivate, educate, and empower residents to achieve optimal health
through a customized wellness challenge. The "Step 2 It Challenge" teamed up co- workers,
family, and friends to get active, eat better, lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. The 10-
week Challenge ran from March 16 through May 25, 2014. Seventy -five teams registered for the
Challenge, with over 350 individuals participating. Nearly 152 million total steps were recorded
by participants, which equated to over 75,000 miles.
Staff solicited various local businesses to be a sponsor of the "Step 2 It Challenge." For the
second year, Kaiser Permanente was a Silver Sponsor, generously donating $2,450 to the "Live

Healthy Dublin" program. Other businesses who participated as sponsors donated at the $250
level.
The Fit Potato, Fallon Dental Group, and Power Within Wellness were present at the first
Community Walk, which began at the Shannon Community Center on April 12. BJ's Restaurant
and Arora Tennis and Fitness sponsored the second Community Walk, which took place on May
3 at Fallon Sports Park. Each business had a booth in which they provided information to event
participants regarding their organization.
All of these businesses generously provided monetary sponsorships to support the "Step 2 It
Challenge." These donations assisted in augmenting the services provided to the community, by
enhancing the community walks, maintaining affordable participation fees and providing give -a-
