Waegemann dated December 28, 1987 RECOMMENDATION Approve Letter of Agreement and Direct cti4\' Staff to Initiate Study FINANCIAL STATEMEN Cost to City - $500 .00 Sufficient Funds are Available in FY1988-89 Budget DESCRIPTION • On July 1 , 1988 the City of Dublin assumed the control and operation of the Valley Community Swim Center. During Fiscal Year 1988-89 , $101 ,200 is budgeted for the renovation of the Swim Center. In order to assist staff in determining the extent of the renovation necessary, it is recommended that we seek the services of a professional swimming pool design specialist to evaluate the pool complex. Staff has been in contact with August E. Waegemann, Consulting Civil Engineer, who specializes in pool operation and design. Exhibit A is a proposed Letter of Agreement with Mr. Waegemann and the City which provides for the following services. : 1 . Perform on-site reconnaissance at the Valley Community Swim Center, 8151 Village Parkway, Dublin, to evaluate the operation and condition of the existing swimming pool complex in order to determine the efficiency and capability of the various elements of the system. 2. Prepare a written report with recommendations for repair, rectification and/or improvement as well as preliminary cost estimates. The fee for these services is estimated to be $500.00. { Additionally Exhibit B, correspondence received from Mr. Waegemann, gives a brief resume of his background and experience. It is staffs recommendation that the City Council approve the proposed Letter of Agreement and direct staff to initiate the study at a cost of not more than $500.00. ( oo— o ITEM NO. CODE ENFORCEMENT 829-0822 A. Consultant Agrees To: ENGINEERING 1 . These projects range from the Big Games Pool in Montreal, Canada; the University Pool in Mexico City; 5 pools for Bechtel in Saudi Arabia; Tulane University big ten competitive pool in New Orleans and the University of Oklahoma pool in Ardmore, Oklahoma and many pools for Universities; Colleges; Junior Colleges; and High Schools throughout the State of California. In addition, during the last five years, we have been involved in the renovation of many pool projects ranging from $12,000 to $300,000.
