HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 189-00 COPS in SchoolGrantRESOLUTION NO 189 - 00 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN ACCEPTANCE OF UNITED STATES, DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES, COPS IN SCHOOL GRANT AWARD WHEREAS, the United States, Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, COPS in School program has grant funds available for law enforcement agencies to partially fund School Resource Officers throughout the nation; and WHEREAS, the City Council established the pursuit of funding for a School Resource Officer as a high priority goal for the Year 2000; and WHEREAS, the City Council authorized Staff to apply for a COPS in School grant; and WHEREAS, the United States, Department of Justice awarded the City of Dublin a grant in the amount of $125,000 to partially fund salary and benefit costs associated with a School Resource Officer over a three year period; and WHEREAS, on November 8, 2000, the City Council received a staff report recommending acceptance of the funding; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin hereby accepts the United States, Department of Justice grant in the amount of $125,000. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 8th day of November, 2000.
