This report summarizes the attendance during the spring quarter for the months of March through May 2014. The following is a comparison of attendance over the past five years. Summary of the Spring Quarter The spring quarter programs and activities attendance increased by 5%. The biggest growth was the Saturday Art Classes offered by Arthur King, the Ukulele Jam Session and Chinese Mah Jong. COPIES TO: ITEM NO.: 7.1 WCOMMISSIONS&COMMITTEES\SRADVCMTE\Statements\2014\8-7-14 Item 7 12014 Spring quarter.doc March 2014 The St. Patrick's Day Luncheon was catered by Green Lantern Catering, a popular food vendor at the annual St. Patrick's Festival. The traditional Irish-American menu included corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots and cake. Eighty-one seniors were in attendance. April 2014 Thirty-five people registered for the Spring Fling Luncheon, featuring the Valley Christian School's children's choir. The menu included herbed chicken breast, potato gratin, mixed vegetables and strawberry vanilla cake. The Senior Center hosted its annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, honoring 94 Dublin Senior Center volunteers. The menu, catered by Checkers Catering, consisted of pepper beef sirloin steak strips, Parmesan chicken with sage butter sauce, mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, chocolate chip cookies and key lime cheesecake. The City of Dublin Executive Team served the guests and the Wells Middle School Jazz Band provided entertainment. Each volunteer received a stadium blanket and a certificate of appreciation signed by Mayor Sbranti. The theme this year was Volunteers Warm the Heart. A new Hawaiian Hula class started in April with 24 seniors registered. Special thanks were extended to Hired Hands, Inc. for sponsoring the instructor and matching the fees of participating seniors. Two van trips were offered: a tour of the State Capitol building and garden with free time in Old Sacramento was enjoyed by 11 participants and the trip to Filoli Gardens was sold out with 14 participants. May 2014 The 4th Annual Dublin Community Car Show was held at the Dublin Heritage Park and Museums. Hundreds of residents flocked to see over 92 registered cars and enjoy food provided by four food trucks. Steve Fox of KKIQ provided DJ service and played a variety of yesteryear tunes. The Heritage Park and Museums were open during the event. A "People's Choice" Trophy was awarded to the owner of the 2006 F430 Spider Ferrari, Brian Brunckhorst of Dublin. A "Best-In-Show" Trophy, selected by the event sponsor, was awarded to the 1951 Chevy owned by Matthew Fisher of Danville. The Youth Advisory Committee hosted a coffee station with proceeds benefitting the Youth Fee Assistance Program. According to the 103 evaluation forms completed, word of mouth is still the best form of publicity, followed by banners, and then newspaper ads and flyers. The Mother's Day Luncheon, enjoyed by 60 participants, had a catered menu of chicken roulade stuffed with spinach and cheese, maple roasted sweet potato mash, grilled vegetables, focaccia and lemon cupcakes. Entertainment was provided by singer Manuel Romero, The Rotary Club served the meals and provided a single stem rose for each guest. The DancEscape event attracted 60 dancers. Music was provided by the TNT(This and That) Band and refreshments were donated by Emeritus Senior Living of Fremont.
