Dear Mayor,Vice-Mayor, and Councilmembers,
I hope this e-mail fords you well. Attached you will find some supplemental items for my application to fill the
vacant City Council seat, which consists of some endorsements from a fellow Planning Commissioner, as well
as current and past City Councilmembers in the Bay Area; as well as three letters from four residents of Dublin
expressing their support of me and my commitment to my community,my diversity, and overall passion for
civic engagement.
As you all read in my resume, I have been active in local politics and have made lasting connections and

with elected officials in our neighboring cities and throughout the Bay Area and State. I know that these

Council Members,
I am writing today to endorse Lynna Do as a candidate for City Council. Lynna will bring a unique perspective
to the council which will only enhance the community as a whole. In the years I've known her, Lynna has
shown the highest regard for the city of Dublin and our community. She is proud to tell people where she
lives, and more importantly why she enjoys living here. Lynna represents many population subsets of our city.
She can lend an ear and a voice for our Women,Asian Americans, and LGBT residents. Her membership on
the council will give insight to many residents who do not currently feel represented, encouraging more
participation in local government. Lynna's life experience resonates with many other minorities looking for a
way and a place to fit in.She is constantly learning about other cultures and immersing herself in languages
and customs to better get a feel for the lives of others.
Lynna continues to be an active volunteer with Junior League of Oakland-East Bay, serving on the Community
Programs Council while encouraging young people to volunteer and take roles in local leadership positions.
She is a published author, having been recognized as a young leader to follow,as well as a member of the
Dublin Planning Commission. It is time to give the residents of Dublin a voice they can relate to.
Sincerely,
Jeannine Happ

Dear Mayor,Vice Mayor, and Councilmembers:
My name is AnnAlia Young and I am a Junior League of Oakland East Bay(JLOEB)
member and 15-year resident of Dublin. I met Lynna Do last year at a Junior League
area meeting she hosted at her house. This year I serve with Lynna on the Community
Programs Council, where I chair the Done-in-a-Day Committee (find volunteer
opportunities and coordinate volunteers) and Lynna chairs the Public Affair Committee
(PAC) and is the Junior State Public Affairs Committee (Jr. SPAC) delegate.
In her role as PAC, Lynna focuses on three areas for the JLOEB: public affairs,
communication, and education. She organizes public affairs trainings for our
membership. She acts as a liaison with the JL State PAC and aligns JLOEB with State
PAC lobbying efforts. Recently, the league has worked on and supported Senate Bill 738
to fight Human Trafficking in California. Her efforts also involve promoting JLOEB
projects at the state level and to local governments. Lynna works closely with our
MarCom council to create JLOEB's Public Policy web site and writes articles for our
weekly newsletter helping JLOEB members advocate for legislation that supports
JLOEB projects. Finally, she educates JLOEB prospective and active members on public
affairs relating to our focus area of Family Self-sufficiency focusing of jobs, housing,
clothing, and food.
As our friendship has grown, I have come to know Lynna's love of politics and passion
for civic duty. She cares deeply about her community, desires to serve, and make a
positive impact. She is genuinely a helpful and giving person. On the Community
Programs Council, she leads with insight and thoughtfulness and communicates
effectively both to our management and membership. Her astute observations serve as
good advice to our Project Research and Development Committee as they reorganize
JLOEB's management structure. She makes a valid and important contribution to each
and every one of our Community Programs Council meetings.
Lynna will make an excellent city councilmember as she is well connected in bay-area
government and understands what it takes to do the job well. Her attention to detail,
ability to prioritize, communication and listening skills, will help her hit the ground
running.
Sincerely,
AnnAlia Young

Dear Mayor, Vice Mayor, and Councilmembers:
We are writing to endorse Lynna Do as candidate for City Council. We have known
Lynna for just a couple of years, but in that time she has impressed us with her passion
for serving on the Community Programs Council and the Junior League of Oakland-East
Bay. She is a proud resident of the City of Dublin and uses every opportunity to share
her pride in the city.
During our friendship with Lynna we have also gotten to know her as an athlete. Lynna
registers for multiple community-based and charitable running events each year.
We personally participated in the Livermore Half Marathon and the CPOA's Run to
Remember with her. Additionallywe are aware of several other events Lynna has
completed in 2014. She never misses an opportunity to increase her level of fitness and
to encourage others to join her. She often does her events in a volunteer capacity,
supporting local charities through exhaustive fundraising efforts. All of which set an
impressive example for Dublin's youth.
We have grown to know Lynna as a compassionate, bright, uplifting person who is
excited about sharing her time and efforts with others who work to enhance the
community we live in. We also believe that she is a clear and effective communicator
who will bring a fresh perspective to the City Council.

Mayor Haubert as you know I live in the city of Dublin and have been active in the
community since my arrival in May of 2005. I strongly support educational
opportunities for students through my association with Diablo Black Men's Group. I
have also support DPIE in their ongoing efforts to strengthen our schools here in
Dublin. I interviewed for the City Council seat last year and had the opportunity to
present to council my experience in both business and community efforts.
I am writing you to let you know that I fully support Melissa Sladden in her efforts to
join Dublin's City Council. I have known Melissa and her family for the past two
years. She has been very active in several local organizations including Dublin
Human Services Task Force as well as volunteering with the Centerforce Youth
Court Program for the County of Alameda.
Melissa earned a double major in Mass Communications and African American
Studies while attending the University of California at Berkeley. She continued her
education at the Georgetown University Law Center.
I believe that Melissa would be an asset to our city and provide a unique perspective
that would benefit the citizens of Dublin. I would be happy to provide additional
information if needed.

Dear Mayor and City Council Members:
I am a Dublin resident, attorney and past President of the California Association of Black Lawyers and
the Charles Houston Bar Association(CHBA)and I write in support of the appointment of Melissa
Sladden to the vacant Dublin City Council seat.
I have known Melissa since college when we attended the University of California at Berkeley. In
addition to knowing her as a friend,I worked with her on the board of the CHBA,where she served
under my leadership as President. Melissa is hard-working,dedicated and passionate about serving her
community. I had high expectations and standards for those serving under me and Melissa proved to be
a valuable member of my team. For example, under my leadership as President of CHBA, I recognized
Melissa with the President's award for her work as a coalition builder to raise monies for the survivors
or Hurricane Katrina.Additionally,Melissa was recently named to the 100 Hot List for up and coming
young lawyers in the Northwest.
As a resident of Dublin, I am concerned about responsible growth and development in our community.
Public safety and services for residents also tops my list of concerns. Melissa is a proud Dublin resident,
and I trust her to advocate for and support my concerns. In addition to the political leadership training
that she received through Emerge, she has practical municipal leadership experience that would be
utilized as a member of the City Council.Melissa served as a member of the Commercial Development
Task Force;in that role she was dedicated and passionate and took the time to solicit feedback from
members of the community before making recommendations at the Task Force meetings. She has also
shown her commitment to Dublin by serving on the Human Services Task Force and by completing the
Inside Dublin program. Melissa represents the voice of people like me,who are new to Dublin, but plan
on making it our home for years to come.
Without hesitation and with full confidence,I proudly endorse her candidacy as a member of the Dublin
City Council.
Very truly yours,

Dear Mayor Haubert and Councilmembers Biddle, Gupta and Hart,
I am writing in support of Melissa Hernandez Strah for the open seat on your city
council. I have known Melissa for many years as co-volunteers in our community
and through Dublin Little League. Since I've known Melissa she has been an
actively engaged community member and has contributed her time, energy and
talents to ensure the success of any task/activity she has committed to. While
Melissa's volunteer efforts may have started out in organizations in which her own
children belonged, she has always been someone whose focus was for all kids and
recently expanded her scope to include the Dublin Rotary, which as you know serves
our entire community.
Melissa's commitment to serving the Dublin community is evident. She is interested
in learning and very resourceful, which shows in her actions and willingness to seek
knowledge through mentorship, workshops, classes, research and networking.
When Melissa first told me of her interest in pursuing a seat on the city council, I
shared many of the actions I took to prepare for the appointment process and then
later my campaign. Melissa actively listened and became very proactive in pursing
her interests.
Melissa has impressed me with her openness to listening and learning from a
variety of respected individuals in our community, yet forming her own opinions
and ideas. She would be the type of councilmember that you could count on to do
her homework, come prepared and make decisions for the greater good of our
community. She would also provide a fresh perspective, one that reflects some
underrepresented populations in our very diverse city.
I appreciate your consideration of Melissa Hernandez Strah for the open seat and
respect the difficult decision you have ahead of you.
Respectfully,

To Mayor Haubert and City Council Members:
It is with pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Melissa Strah. She is an active
community member and is currently a fifth grade parent at Frederiksen Elementary School. I
have had the opportunity to interact with Ms. Strah during the school community events such as
the City Parade and Dublin High School homecoming parade, as well as during school PFC
functions. She communicates her ideas and enthusiasm in a positive and productive manner,
always showing support for the event and the individuals involved. She has given above and
beyond in all situations she is involved with. For example, Ms. Strah was instrumental in our
fifth grade outdoor education experience this year. She organized parental support and
fundraising efforts, in addition to chaperoning the camp experience and bringing about a
cohesive atmosphere for other fifth grade parent chaperones and students.
I believe Ms. Strah will be a valuable addition to the Dublin City Council. She is organized and
approachable. In addition, she is a collaborative individual who will be a visionary member.
The City Council will be lucky to have her on their team.
If you should have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Subject: Letter of recommendation for Melissa Strah on City Council
Dear Caroline and City Council Members:
I am writing to offer my support for Melissa Strah to be appointed to the Dublin City Council. I have known
and worked with Melissa for many years in our capacities as school volunteers, and I know Melissa to be
creative, willing to work hard, and dedicated to the community of Dublin. Equally or perhaps more important to
the City Council position, she is also someone who takes on leadership and isn't afraid to offer an informed
opinion. At the same time, she asks great questions and is always looking for ways to make things better.
Many of these characteristics I have noted over the years would make Melissa an energizing and diverse
addition to the current Council, and I enthusiastically recommend her for the vacant Council position.
