PLEDGE OFALLEGIANCE Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chairperson Sher. ROLL CALL Committee Members (CM) Present: Neil Bedi,Nicki Butler, Kush Rastogi, Rebecca DeGuzman, Jessie Sher, Ryan McCorriston, Loic Alnini, Parin Patel, Meghan Butler, Smruthi Balajee, Ianna Fong, Shivi Bhatnagar Committee Members Absent: Alexandra Padnos, Nicole Chen, Sophia Bafaiz, Ivan Fong Liaison Present: Alicia Tran, Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison Staff Present: Frank Luna, Officer Christina Blaylock- Dublin Police ORAL COMMUNICATIONS— Committee Members Rastogi, Sher, Bedi, Patel, and Balajee indicated that they are members of the arganizations that are presenting at the Youth Advisory Committee meeting this evening. They stated, "An item on this evening's agenda contains a request for funding to the Dublin High School Clubs which include Gael Force Robotics, Room to Read, Model United Nations and Speech and Debate from the Youth Advisory Committee for the Youth Mini Grant program. Due to being a member of the Youth Advisory Committee, I have a remote interest in the decision, and may not participate in the voting/recommendation of funding for the Mini Grant program. I hereby abstain from all participation in this matter, and ask that my vote not be counted in determining the recommendation of funding far the . Youth Mini Grant program." MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING- October 22 2014 ON A MOTION BY CM BEDI, AND SECONDED BY CM PATEI; AND BY A VOTE OF 9-0-3, THE YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE,, MINUTES OF OCTOBER 22, 2014 AS PRESENTED. CMS BHATNAGAR, MEGHAN BUTLER AND MCCORRISTON ABSTAINED DUE TO _THEIR ABSENCE AT THE OCTOBER 22, 2014 _�• � MEETING. �� � WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS-None , � UNFINISHED BIISINESS—None . NEW B USINESS Presentations from puali�ed Youth Mini Grant Annlicants Qualified Youth Mini Grant Applicants provided a five minute presentation of their program/club to Youth Advisary Committee Members for evaluation. Presentations were received by the following programs/clubs: Dublin High School Room to Read Club, Dublin High School Model United Nations Club, Dublin High School Gael Force Robotic Club, Dublin High School Speech and Debate Club, and Dublin High School Dublin Shield. After listening to each club, Committee Members rated each group and provided a recommendation for funding each club. ON A MOTION BY CM MEGHAN BUTLER, SECONDED BY CM IANNA FONG AND BY A VOTE OF 7-0-5, WITH COMMITTEE MEMBERS RASTOGI, SHER, PATEL, BEDI AND BALAJEE ABSTAINING, THE COMMITTEE APPROVED FUNDING THE FOLLOWING AMOUNTS TO THE QUALIFIED APPLICANTS FROM THE MINI GRANT PROGARM: DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL ROOM TO READ CLUB- $350, DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL MODEL UNITED NATIONS CLUB-$300, DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL GAEL FORCE ROBOTIC CLUB- $500, DUBIN HIGH SPEECH AND DEBATE CLUB-$300, AND DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL DUBLIN SHIELD-�150. OTHER B IISINESS— Staff Member Luna encouraged Youth Advisory Committee Members to attend the Dublin Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, December 4, 2014. The event will take place at the Dublin Civic Center. The event begins at 7:00 PM. ADJOURNMENT Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:51 PM by Staff Member Luna.
