DESCRIPTION:
The City of Dublin's St. Patrick's Day Festival was held on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday,
March 15 at the Dublin Civic Center. Based on the onsite sales and receipts for the two-day
event, the Festival attendance was estimated at 78,000. This was close to last year's record
attendance of 81,000.
New features for the 2015 Celebration included an expansion of the carnival area, food vendors
and Irish Chemed vendors. The Irish Tea Cottage was open longer this year and was expanded
into the Civic Center Lobby to accommodate the demand for this popular attraction. Also, a
youth Rugby Exhibition Tournament was featured on the Dublin Sports Grounds from 10:00 AM
to 3:00 PM on Saturday.

The general response from the community indicated overall satisfaction with the Festival's 240
vendors, as well as the entertainment and activities offered at the event. One of the priorities
this year was to increase the availability of festival parking. The following enhancements
contributed positively towards increasing parking.
• Securing additional parking lots on Clark Avenue and Sierra Court.
• Expanding the free Wheels bus connection to the festival from both the East and West
Dublin BART stations.
• Receiving permission from BART to allow attendees to park at the BART lots and use the
free Wheels Bus connection to the festival.
• Establishing a new free shuttle service to run continuously between the Dublin Swim
Center and the Festival throughout the weekend for attendees and for festival volunteers.
• Encouraging attendees to ride bikes to the event and utilize the free Bike Valet parking.
• Creation of additional courtesy parking for those with handicap placards on Sierra Court
with golf cart shuttle service over to the festival.
On Sunday there were 2,460 runners that participated in the 17th annual Shamrock 5K Fun Run
and Walk. As part of its sponsorship package, Whole Foods Market supplied all of the post-race
food and beverages for the participants this year. Overall, the Fun Run received favorable
comments regarding the pre-race, race, and post-race experience.
In addition to the events sponsored by the City, several local service organizations sponsored
events that added to the spirit of the weekend Celebration. These groups include:
• Alameda County Firefighters Association Local 55 — Pancake Breakfast
• Dublin Lions Club — St. Patrick's Day Parade
• Dublin Sister City Association — Green and White Gala
