HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 024-90 CWM HHW CollectionRESOLUTION NO. 24 - 90 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN APPROVING AN AGREEMENT FOR PARTICIPATION IN A JOINT HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION EVENT AND DESIGNATING A FUNDING METHOD WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Act (AB 939) required Cities to have programs for the collection and disposal of Household Hazardous Waste; and WHEREAS, in order to provide a program in a cost effective manner, it is advantageous to work with neighboring cities on a joint program; and WHEREAS, the Cities of Livermore and Pleasanton are also anticipated to adopt similar agreements; and WHEREAS, Chemical Waste Management (CWM) has provided a proposal which provides the full range of services necessary for the event; and WHEREAS, CWM is a subsidiary of Waste Management Inc., as is Oakland Scavenger Company (OSC); and WHEREAS, the Livermore/Dublin Division OSC is the franchised garbage collection firm for the City of Dublin; and WHEREAS, through the corporate relationship between OSC and CWM, the cost of HHW collection can be funded as part of the garbage rate structure. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby approve the Pleasanton/Livermore/Dublin Service Agreement with CWM and the Mayor is authorized to execute said agreement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Dublin City Council establishes the date of April 23, 1990 to conduct a public hearing to consider an adjustment to the Authorized Garbage Collection Rates, for the purpose of paying for the cost of the HHW Collection. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of March, 1990. AYES: Councilmembers Hegarty, Jeffery, Snyder, Vonheeder and Mayor Moffatt NOES: None ABSENT: None
