Approve Budget Change in the amount of $27,833.50 FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Budgeted for improvements (including survey): $264,395.00 Low bid received: Plus 10% contingency: TOTAL: $265,662.50 $ 26,566.00 $292,228.50 Budget shortfall: $ 27,833.50 An additional appropriation from General Fund Unallocated Reserves (001 ) will be required. DESCRIPTION: On December 19, 2000, the City Council authorized Staff to solicit bids for Contract No. 00-14 Alamo Canal Bike Path Project from Amador Valley Boulevard south to the Iron Horse Trail Junction. This project will extend the Iron Horse Trail south to Dougherty Road by constructing the section between Amad0r Valley Boulevard and the portion of the Trail built by the developer of the Park Sierra Apartment complex. A total of 9 bids were received. The low bidder is Carone & Son, Inc., with a bid of $265,662.50. The bid received for Top Grade Construction was lower but was determined to be nonresponsive. Staff has reviewed the bids, called references and determined that Carone & Son, Inc., has satisfactorily performed similar projects for other cities. Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution awarding Contract No. 00-14 to Carone & Son, Inc., and approve the Budget Change in the amount of $27,833.50. g:xaniscproj\alamo bikd AVB-IHXagstawrd COPIES TO: Bidders ITEM NO. RESOLUTION NO. - 01 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN AWARDING CONTRACT NO. 00-14 ALAMO CANAL BIKE PATH PROJECT FROM AMADOR VALLEY BOULEVARD TO IRON HORSE TRAIL JUNCTION WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on February 22, 2001, publicly open, examine, and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for Contract No. 00-14, Alamo Canal Bike Path Project from Amador Valley Boulevard Iron Horse Trail Junction, authorized by the City Council on December 19, 2000, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars. relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and to WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has recommended that the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby award City of Dublin Contract No. 00-14 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit, Carone & Son, Inc., at a bid of Two Hundred Sixty-Five Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-Two Dollars and Fifty Cents ($265,662.50), the particulars of which bid are on file in the Office of the City Engineer.
