DESCRIPTION:
Cultural Arts Classes
Registration for Cultural Arts dsses increed significntly for summer 2015, in oomparison to summer
2014. Four faver dses were offered, but the number of clses actually held was on par with the previous
yea-. H owever, the average number of partiapants enrol led per dass was up by 33-percent.
The increae is primarily due to additional arts summer camp offerings and strong enrollments in all types of
arts summer cmps. The D ivision offered additional sections of Tri-Valley Young Performers drama cmps,
All 4 Dance pop danoe camps and Ever Pro Kids' Art Explosion Camps. Arts Camps with the strongest
enrollment were those offered in conjunction with the Camp Connector program, which provides extended
rly morning, lunchtime and a late ternoon supervision, making it easier for working parents to enroll
children in multiple camps at the samete.
Fewer ault cultural arts dsses were offered during the summer and more adult dses were canoelled,
including Advanoed Ballroom, Beginning Tap, Bolywood Danoe, Latin Dance and Ukulele for Adults. Last
yeer some adult clsses ran with just two or three people enrolled. H istorically adult enrollments drop in the
summer.

H eritage Programs
mmer is typically a slower period for Heritage programs. There are no speaal events xheduled during the
summer. The Heritage exhibit on "The Wonder Yrs: Being a Teen in Dublin during the 1960s and 1970s,"
which opened during the spring quarter, and remained on display until the end of July, with 145 people
viewing it during its final month. The next exhibit, which focuses on the history of Dublin's schools, will
open in October to coincidewith theHarvest Fair, which isoneof theHeritagePark'sbusiest Events.
H eritage Park Visitors
The Visitors Comparison chart shows the number of people who visit the Heritae Park and Museums
part of a formal tour, as walk-in guests during public exhibit hours, or for those who took a tour during a
speaal event at the H eritage Park. Tour guests were counted and recorded by the tour guide. The volunteers
at the Visitor Center in the Murray Schoolhouse recorded the walk-in guests. For ticketed speaal Events,
guest tendanoe was dravn from tick sales data For non-ticked e✓ents, such as the ring Faire,
attendance westi mated.
Visitor Comparison numbers neither indude people who ttended the Heritae Pak for City-run dsses
(counted in dassttendanoe numbers), nor does it includethe peoplewho attended privte rental functions.
Going forward, Staf will report Visitor numbers annually to the Commission at fiscal year-end, insteal of
quarterly, per the Heritae and Cultural Arts Commission's request to provide a more comple picture.
Exhibit attendanoe will no longer be reported separaely, as it is virtually identical to the vistor count, since
the vitor oenter was relocated to the M urray Schoolhouse.
There were no formal tours or speci events this summer, so there are no visitors in those caegories.

I n addition to the number of visitors, the City also tracks the number and type of formal tours offered. Tours
for school groups are the most common type offered, as Heritae Park's history dovails with Dublin
Unified 5chool District's third grade curriculum on local history. There are typically far fewer tours offered in
the summer. This summer, there were no school tours and no camp tours.

H eritage Park Volunteers
Staf tradcs both the number of volunteers and the number of hours of service each volunteer provides. The
Heritage Park and Museums currently has 35 active volunteers, which is an incre of six people from spring,
due to stepped-up recruitment and teen volunteers remaining involved over the summer. Volunteers do a
variy of taslcs, induding greing visitors, conducting tours, assisting with colledions and gar'dening.
Volunteers were instrumental in lealing handon history activities for Camp Dublin campers. Fifty children
attended the camp, and a different handon history activity was featured eah day.

H eritage Facility Rentals
SLmmer rentals of Heritage Park facilitieswere up slightly from 2014, though not neerly at the high leel seen
during summer 2013. Overall yea--to-dte rentals are laging slightly from 2014. Rentals during this period
induded: 3 weddings, 1 mernorial, 2 rections, 3 board rrieings and 2 picnics.
I t is worth noting, due to the drought, the Heritae Park grounds are sgnificantly less attractive than in pt
years. Construction of piping to bring recyded w2ter to the Heritae Park is almost finished, and landscaping
is expeded to reoover this fall as the park is able to resume a more consistent irrigation schedule. D ue to the
reoent construction, stre# paking haS been impaed. veral prospective renters have indicated tht the
construction has prompted them to consider other venues.
