HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 3.3 Accpt Bilich Family Donation STAFF REPORT CITY COUNCIL CITY CLERK File #150-70 DATE: February 21,2012 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers FROM: Joni Pattillo, City Manager\J~ ~ SUBJECT: Acceptance of Charitable Donation from Anthony, Angie and Lauren Bilich Prepared by Tom McCarthy, Chief of Police EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Dublin Police Services' Crime Prevention Unit received a generous $500 donation from Anthony, Angie and Lauren Bilich which will be used to purchase replacement booster seats and car seats for low-income Dublin residents. The Dublin City Council will present the Bilich family with a Certificate of Appreciation for their donation. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The $500 donation will be for Operating Supplies associated with car seat demonstrations, including the purchase of replacement booster seats and car seats for low-income Dublin residents. A budget change in the amount of $500 will record the unbudgeted donation as well as the offsetting expense in the current year budget. Recent changes in state laws have raised the age and weight limits for car seats and booster seats. The funds will be used to purchase car seats and Page 1 of 2 ITEM NO. 3.3 booster seats that address the heightened age and weight limits, which will be distributed at the car seat installation demonstrations to low-income Dublin residents. The adopted Fiscal Year 2011-2012 Budget did not include this revenue or the additional expense. A Budget Change has been prepared which will adjust the Fiscal Year 2011-2012 appropriations.
