The attached document was received in the City Clerk's office after distribution of the April 17, 2012 City Council meeting agenda packet. Item 7.4 RECEIVED APR 1 3 2012 C CITY OF DUBUN lTY MANAGER'S OFFICE April 12, 2012 City Clerk City of Dublin 100 Civic Plaza Dublin, CA 94568 RE: Proposed Amendment to Dublin Municipal Code Tobacco Retailers I understand that the City Council is considering a change to eventually ban all cigarette sales in the City of Dublin. I do not smoke, to object to this ordinance. I have been a resident of Dublin for 9 years, and work in a convenience store/service station that sells cigarettes. Most people that buy cigarettes also buy other items as well. By banning the sale of cigarettes, these customers will probably go to other cities, like Pleasanton or San Ramon (not that far away) to buy their gasoline, cigarettes, and other items. All this ordinance will do is give other cities the revenue that Dublin needs. Has the city thought this through to determine the revenue that will be lost? Not only from cigarette sales, but all the other sales that will be lost from customers going elsewhere? This ordinance will not stop cigarette sales, only stop revenue from coming into Dublin. As a citizen, I do not think we can afford to lose the sales tax revenue and end up accomplishing nothing. Sincerely, \ /1. b~~k Mehrangie Djomehri V 8049 Via Zapata Dublin,CA 94568
