HomeMy WebLinkAbout7.2 Sr Ctr 10th Anniversary Celebration AGENDA STATEMENT DCiTY oF SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE UBLIN MEETING DATE: September 3, 2015 SUBIECT: Senior Center 10th Anniversary Celebration Report Prepared by Rich Jochner, Recreation Supervisor ATTACHMENTS: None RECOMMENDATION: Receive report FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: On Saturday, August 1, the City celebrated the 10 year anniversary of the Dublin Senior Center by hosting an evening gala attended by 95 participants. The Senior Center was transformed into a night "At the Copa". Vocalists Wallin & Barretta, along with their band performed a "Tribute to Italian Singers" reprising the songs of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Louie Prima, Perry Coma, Frankie Avalon, and others. Mixed in with humor and audience interaction, the evening show dupiicated a 1950's Las Vegas-style headliner show. After the show, a DJ continued the festivities with music and dancing for ali to enjoy. The decor featured lighted palm trees, cocktail tables and purple couches making the ballroom truly feel more like a nightclub. Prior to the entertainment, heavy appetizers were served at stations which included a carving station. A coffee and dessert station was offered during the show. The Dublin Lion's Club operated a beverage booth during the dining and show. Regarding the event, the City was awarded with a California Legislature Assembly Certificate of Recognition in celebration of the anniversary from Catharine B. Baker, Assemblywoman, 16t" Assembly District. The certificate recognized the years of service provided to the residents of Dublin and thanked the City for its dedication to our local community. Following the event, Staff provided a decorated cake after the lunch program and the Line Dance Social on Thursday, August 6 to commemorate the 10 year anniversary. As a follow-up, photos from the Gala were posted in the lounge area. Some feedback was received after the gala: "I was at the Center's Opening Day party & it was great. The 10th Anniversary party was even better! Food was fantastic! Entertainment was fun to listen to & enjoyed so much. End of evening DJ even more fun!
