FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council confirm the Mayor's appointments to the Youth Advisory Committee. f N ~~, Submitted B Director of Park~and Community Services DESCRIPTION: ~~1~ ___, Reviewed By Assistant City Manager The term of office for the current Youth Advisory Committee expires on May 31, 2012. During the month of April 2012, recruitment efforts took place to encourage middle school and high school students to apply for appointment to the upcoming term of office. Per the Bylaws and Rules of Procedure for the Youth Advisory Committee, the composition of the Youth Advisory Committee should be a minimum of nine and a maximum of thirteen youth members, plus three alternates. At least three must be from Middle School and six from High School. In the event that there are insufficient applications to meet the Middle School to High School ratio, the Mayor may make appointments from any of the grade levels. Additionally, Page 1 of 2 ITEM NO. 3.4 there are four non-voting adult members representing Dublin Police Services, Dublin Unified School District, Dublin Chamber of commerce, and the At-Large Community. The Mayor, with the approval of the City Council, appoints the youth members, the three alternates, and the one at-large adult member. The remaining three adult members are appointed by their representing agency. Forty-seven applications were received for the youth member positions: twenty-two are middle school students and twenty-five are high school students. One application was received for the adult at-large community member. NOTICING REQUIREMENTS/PUBLIC OUTREACH: The openings for the Youth Advisory Committee's upcoming term were advertised at the local middle and high schools, on the City's website, and press releases were sent to the Tri-Valley Herald, Valley Times, and CTV.
