SUBJECT Traffic Signal and Street Lighting Agreement -
Department of Transportation - State of California

RECOMMENDATION Adopt resolution authorizing Mayor to execute
the agreement.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Cost approximately $8 , 100 per year - sufficient funds
have been budgeted.
DESCRIPTION The County of Alameda is presently operating under a
contract with the California Department of Transportation which provides for
sharing the operating and maintenance costs for traffic signals and street
lights which are in intersections partially owned by the State and partially
owned by the City of Dublin. Since this contract was entered into prior to
incorporation, it is necessary for the City to enter into a separate
agreement with the State for those intersections which were previously
covered by the County agreement.
Facilities covered under this agreement include traffic signals and 17
street lights at the intersection of San Ramon Road/Dublin Boulevard, and 6
street lights at the intersection of Dublin Boulevard and Dougherty Road.
The City ' s share of the cost varies from 50% to 750 , depending on the number
of legs of the intersection owned by each jurisdiction. The estimated cost
of the City' s share of operating and maintaining these facilities is
approximately $8, 100/year.
It is Staff ' s recommendation that the City Council adopt a resolution
authorizing the Mayor to execute the attached agreement.

APPROVING AGREEMENT FOR MAINTENANCE OF
STATE HIGHWAY IN THE CITY OF DUBLIN
WHEREAS, the State of California, through its Department
of Transportation has presented an Agreement for Maintenance of
the State Highway in the City of Dublin effective as of January 1,
1983 and to remain in effect until amended or terminated.
WHEREAS, the City Council has read said Agreement in full
and is familiar with the contents thereof :
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the
City of Dublin that said Agreement for Maintenance of the State
Highway facilities being street lights and traffic signals in the
City of Dublin is hereby approved.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of January,

AGREEMENT FOR SHARING COST OF UTILITIES

This AGREEMENT, made and executed in duplicate this day of
19 , by and between the State of California ,
acting by and through the Department of. Transportation , hereinafter
referred to as "STATE" and the CITY of _Dublin ,
hereinafter referred to as CITY.
WITNESSETH:
AGREEMENT:
This agreement shall supersede any previous AGREEMENT FOR SHARING
COST III' THE CITY OF _Dublin and/or AMENDMENTS thereto
with the CITY.
ELECTRICAL
This includes all STATE operation and maintenance work performer on
highway electrical facilities including flashing beacons , traffic
signals , traffic-signal systems , safety lighting , and sign lighting..
Basis for billing :
It is agreed that monthly billings for flashing beacons ,
traffic signals , and traffic-signal systems shall be
established. as follows:
o Labor (plus overhead assessment) , other .expense,
and electrical energy will be based on actual
intersection cost.
o Equipment and Materials will be made on a pro rate
basis by type of installation; flashing beacons;
fixed-time .signals; traffic-actuated signals.
It is agreed that monthly billings for safety lighting and
sign lighting shall be established as follows:
• Labor (plus overhead assessment) , other expense,
and electrical energy will be based on calculated
unit costs .
• Equipment and materials will be :rased on calculated
unit costs .
It is agreed that monthly billings for utility-owned and
maintained lighting will be based on calculated unit costs
derived from utility company billings .
The cost of operating and maintaining flashing beacons , traffic
signals , traffic-signal systems , safety lighting , and sign lighting
now in place at the intersection of any State highway route and any
City street shall be shared as shown on Exhibit A. Exhibit A is not

a part of this Agreement. It is furnished for information only. The
exhibit will be changed as necessary to reflect charges in the system.,
This Agreement shall become effective January 1, 1983 and
shall remain in full force and effect until amended or terminated.
The Agreement as above may be amended or terminated at any time upon
mutual consent of the parties thereto. This Agreement may also be
terminated by either party .upon thirty (30) days '. notice to the other
party.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have set their hands and
seals the day and year first above written .
