Dear General Assembly Alternate:
I 'd like to extend a special invitation to you to attend our General
Assembly on Fridav, March 18. Although you won ' t be a voting delegate
(unless the delegate is unable to attend) you can see in the enclosed
brochure that we have a top-notch program lined un.
I 'm sure I don 't need to tell you how important infrastructure issues
are to both the public and private sectors in the Bay Area. Our roads,
highways , bridges and public buildinns are tremendously expensive capital
investments that must be maintained. We' re making a soecial effort with
this conference to involve our region' s business and industry since we
believe the 1980s are a pivotal time for "alliances" to be built.
This too is our annual budget meeting. It is particularly important
that a delegate from each city and county be at the meeting to discuss
and vote on ABAG' s budget and program for the coming year. You will be
receiving a packet of information on this business session near the end
of February.
I hope you can join us March 18. However, if you ' ll not be able to make
the business session at 10:45 a.m. , would you please contact your alternate
as soon as possible so he or she can plan to attend in your olace. If
neither of you can attend, your council or board may designate another
member of your elected body to serve in your place and send us an official
letter to that effect.
I 'm looking forward to seeing you then.
nc rely,
Ra ph C. Bolin
