This report reviews the design alternatives for the extension of BART to the Valley. One of the key points that the City Council should consider is the location of the Dublin Station which is proposed in the middle of I-580 and would require parking on the south side of I-580 in Pleasanton and the north side of I-580 in Dublin. Consideration should be given to both the benefits and liabilities of such a station in Dublin. One of the negative impacts which might result from the location of a BART parking station in Dublin would be the overflow of parking onto commercial streets in Dublin and the loss of the little remaining commercial/industrial land that is left in the City. One of the benefits may be the attraction of more people from outside the community to our commercial area and the provision of convenient mass transit to residents . Staff has provided a copy of the Extension Report to the major employers within the City of Dublin and the Chamber of Commerce for their comment . Staff from the Bay Area Rapid Transit District will be holding a public meeting on Tuesday, June 21st at 2 : 30 p.m. , in the community room of the Stoneridge Shopping Center in Pleasanton. At that meeting, BART Staff will explain the Extension Study Update Analysis and accept input from the public at large . A second meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 6th at 2 : 00 p.m. , in which the Technical Advisory Committee will meet in Oakland to discuss individual agency ' s comments . A representative of Staff sits on that Technical Advisory Committee . --------------------------------------------------------------------------- COPIES TO: ITEM NO. 716 B A R T BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT DISTRICT 800 Madison Street Da Oakland, California 94607 Telephone (415) 465-4100 June 2, 1983 ROBERT S.
