DESCRIPTION: At its April 11, 1983, meeting, the City
Council initiated a street name change study from Vomac Road
to West Vomac Road. The name change would apply to the area
along Vomac Road, west of San Ramon Road. A total of 48
single family dwelling units would be affected by the
proposed name change.
Although both the Postal Service and the Alameda County
Building Inspection Department refer to the street "West
jVomac Road", the official name is "Vomac Road". The Postal
Service prefers West Vomac Road name change because:
1. The street on the west side of San Ramon Road has
numbers ranging from 12000, down; while streets on the east
side have numbers ranging from 8371, down.
2. The proposed name change would help distinguish the two
different portions of the street.
The Dublin San Ramon Services District, Fire Department, has
indicated its support for the proposed street name change.
The subdivider, at the end of Vomac road, has also indicated
support for the proposed street name change. Staff has
received no other comments from other agencies or residents.
On July 18, 1983, the Planning Commission reviewed the
proposal at a public hearing. There were no comments from
the public, either in favor or against. The Planning
Commission recommended approval of the street name change.
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the street
name change from Vomac Road to West Vomac Road.

Ms. Sarah Cheney
Planning Depar-'Cmen
County of Alameda
399 Elmhurst Street
Hayward, CA 94544
Dear Ms. Cheney:
Re our phone conversations concerning Vomac Road/
West Vomac Road in the new Tract 4802 in Dublin,
attached is a copy y -of the address assignment list for
Tract 3733 which we received from the Building Inspection
Department in 1977, which reflects the street name as
"West Vomac Road" .
The street in Tract 4802 is an extension of the street
in Tract 3733 and is named "West Vomac Road" as far as
the Postal Service is concerned. As it appears the
county refers to this street as "Vomac Road" , please
advise me of the action I need to take to have your
records changed to reflect the official name as "West
Vomac Road" .
The Postal Service prefers the "West" designation for
that portion of the road west of San Radon Road as
San amon Road is t e point at which the numbering grid
changes. The number range or e o er portion o
oV—mac Road is 7900 through 8399, while that portion
west of San Ramon Road has a number range of 11800
through 12099 . Our reason for preferring the "West"
designation is due to the two different numbering
systems and to assist in distinguishing the two
different portions of the road.
Sincerely yours,
Albert S. oung
