Request from Dublin United Soccer League to Utilize Civic Center Property EXHIBITS ATTACHED None RECOMMENDATION 1. Approve Request 2. Authorize Public Works Assistance FINANCIAL STATEMENT : Cost to City - Approximately $325.00 DESCRIPTION The Dublin United Soccer League (D.U.S.L. ) will be hosting their Annual Shamrock Invitiational Soccer Tournament the weekend of September 5 , 6 and 7 , 1987. It is anticipated that over 100 teams from throughout Northern California will participate in the tournament. The tournament committee has requested permission to use the Civic Center property for overflow parking as was done for the recent Dublin Shamrock Festival. The City' s Public Works Department 'has indicated that the site is still in suitable condition for parking, but suggested having a representative from the Department available for parking control. The basis for this suggestion stems from the need to insure that cars are parked properly and that lanes of traffic are kept open for access in and out of the property. The approximate cost for Public Works assistance is $325. As D.U.S.L. pays approximately $7,000 in field use fees, $1,050 of which is retained by the City, it is recommended that the City absorb the cost of Public Works assistance. However, it is recommended that D.U.S.L. provide the City with a certificate of insurance naming the City as the additional insured in the amount of $500,000. ' Therefore, it is the recommendation of staff that the Council take the following action: 1. Approve D.U.S.L. Request to Utilize the Civic Center Property . 2.
