DUBLIN AGENDA STATEMENT CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: March 1 , 1988 SUBJECT • 1988 St. Patrick' s Day Celebration EXHIBITS ATTACHED None RECOMMENDATION \° Receive Report FINANCIAL STATEMENT : None DESCRIPTION • The 1988 St. Patrick' s Day Celebration is scheduled for Saturday , March 19. As in past years, the Dublin-San Ramon Lions Club is sponsoring a parade and a corned beef dinner, while the City ' s Recreation Department is sponsoring the community celebration at Shannon Center. Arrangements have been made for the City Council to participate in the parade. The staging area for the parade is located on Amador Plaza Road which will be closed to through traffic. Assembly of parade participants begins at 8 :00a.m. The parade begins at 10 : 00a.m. and will proceed West on Amador Valley Blvd. , South on Regional Street, East on Dublin Blvd. , North on Village Parkway, and West on Amador Valley Blvd. The community celebration at Shannon Center will begin immediately following the parade at 11 :30a.m. Parade goers may take advantage of free bus service provided by Wheels from the end of the parade route to Shannon Center. Buses will run between 11 : 15a.m. and 4 :15p.m. The community celebration will feature local entertainers as well as food and game booths staffed by community organizations. Entertainment is scheduled as follows : 11 : 30a.m. Karate Demonstration 12 Noon Carol Sawyer, Bagpiper 12 : 30p.m. Girls of Yesteryear, Vocal Music 1 : 00p.m. Old Yesterday Barbershop Quartet 1 :30p.m. Magic by Bob Caldwell 2:30p.m. New Generation Dance Theatre 3 : 00p.m. Hillbilly Cloggers 3 : 45p.m. The Dance Network The following community organizations will be represented: Afterschool Playgrounds Cotton Candy Ring Toss • American Association of Voter Registration University Women American Red Cross Safety Information Boy Scout Troop #905. Valley Youth Football Chili/Frito/Coffee Football Toss Womens Club of Dublin Bake Sale The Lions Club' s traditional corn beef and cabbage dinner will follow the community celebration at 5: 00p.m. Tickets are available from members of the Lions Club. Publicity for the 1988 St. Patrick' s Day Celebration will begin . in early March. All events are open to the general public.
