FINANCIAL STATEMEN None
DESCRIPTION The Fall 1987 quarter was overwhelmingly
our most successful quarter for children' s classes . A total of
292 children were enrolled in the 27 classes offered by the
department. Of those 27 classes that were offered, 25 of them
were conducted for an outstanding 93% success rate ! Classes for
preschool age children continue to be extremely popular,
particularly Time for Two ' s -and Sing-Along Time.
Conversely, the teen and adult classes did not fare as well.
Only 67% of the 63 classes that were offered were conducted.
The number of people that enrolled in classes was up from the
Spring quarter, but it is highly likely that there were simply
too many classes from which to choose. The arts and craft classes
that traditionally do quite well in the Fall quarter experienced
a decrease in enrollment this quarter. The trips (combined with
LARPD and San Ramon) did very well. We were able to offer a
variety of trips to local areas of interest, as well as special
holiday excursions.
Four special events were conducted by the Department during the
Fall quarter. In October , the Department conducted a children' s
Halloween Party at Shannon Center. Approximately 300 children
participated in free games and crafts at this fun and safe event.
On November 7 , the Annual Pepsi Hot Shot Basketball Skills
Competition was held at the Dublin High School. Thirty-one
youth, ages 9-18 participated in this event which was sponsored
in conjunction with the recreation agencies of Livermore,
Pleasanton and San Ramon.
In December, the Department hosted the Annual Tree Lighting
Ceremony at Shannon Center. Approximately 500 people were
entertained by various community groups. The grand finale of the
evening was a visit from Santa and refreshments , courtesy of the
Dublin-San Ramon Lioness .
Breakfast with Santa was held on December 12 at Shannon Center.
This event was co-sponsored with the Dublin High School Band
Boosters with the proceeds benefiting the band. There were 328
people in attendance at this event which netted $787.20 for the
Dublin High School Band ' s Ireland trip fund.
Attached in Exhibits A, B and C are statistics completed by staff
on the programs and classes offered.
