RECOMMENDATION Direct Staff to forward the Request to
the Dublin School Facilities
Improvement Task Force
FINANCIAL STATEMENT : None
DESCRIPTION • The City Council has received
correspondence from Lenora Holmes , President of the Dublin Joint
Unified School District Board of Trustees, requesting that the
City consider making improvements to the Cronin Park Area.
In her correspondence, she states that while the school district
recognizes the recreational value of this piece of property,
limited funds preclude the school district from developing and
maintaining the park at an appropriate level. Additionally, the
school district wants to maintain title to the land in the event
it is needed for future projects associated with Cronin or Wells
Schools.
The Council, at its meeting of November 23 , 1987 , appointed the
Dublin School Facilities Improvement Task Force (formerly the
Dublin High School Grounds Improvement Task Force) to investigate
the need for additional indoor and outdoor facilities for
community use and to identify those schools that could be
upgraded to fulfill this need. Therefore, it is the
recommendation of Staff that the school district ' s request be
directed to the Task Force in order that they may consider the
Cronin Park area in their study of recreational needs. It is
anticipated that the Task Force will present a report to the City
Council with its findings at the May 9 , 1988 meeting of the
Council.

We have received a letter from a city resident, Janet Moore,
Heinz Gewing regarding the condition of Cronin Park. •
District Office As you know, Cronin Park property is owned by the school
7416 Brighton district. The park was originally developed and maintained
Dublin,CA 94568 - by the Dublin San Ramon Services District on school district

land. After the passage of Proposition 13, the Services
District found that it was no longer . able to maintain the
High Schools park. The school district has been able to provide only minimal -
DUBLINHIGH maintenance of the park and, unfortunately over the years,
8151 Village Parkway has had to remove many of the recreational facilities as they

the Dublin School District effective July 1, 1988, has always

for education precludes our developing and maintaining this
