SUBJECT: Request to Use San Ramon Road Banner Poles:
St. Raymond's Parish Festival
(Report by Public Works Director Lee Thompson)
EXHIBITS ATTACHED: Letter from Edy Coleman, Business Manager,
St. Raymond's
RECOMMENDATION: I Approve request and authorize Staff to issue
encroachment permit.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Permit fee is $50.00. Actual cost of banner
installation and removal, which is budgeted in the
Operating Budget, is estimated at $400
DESCRIPTION:
Staff has received a request from St. Raymond's Catholic Church to use the San
Ramon Road banner poles from September 1st through 17th to display a banner
advertising their Parish Festival. The festival will be held on September 15,
16, and 17. As noted in the letter from Ms. Coleman, the festival is open to
the entire community.
Funds raised by the festival are used strictly to pay for the St. Raymond's
school and church programs and therefore remain within the community and are
used for the benefit of the residents.
St. Raymond's has provided the required insurance certificate. Staff
recommends that the City Council approve this request.

Dear Mr. Thompson:
St. Raymond Church is having its 7th annual Parish Festival the weekend of September
15, 16, and 17, 1989. It will be held on the parish grounds at 11555 Shannon Avenue.
The Festival provides fun, food, games, and entertainment for all ages. It is an
occasion which is open to the community at large. We want to encourage everyone to
come and join in our fellowship, and to do this we are requesting that we be allowed
to display a banner across San Ramon Valley Blvd.
Enclosed, please find our completed application form for the banner permit along with
a check for $50.00 to cover the application fee and a copy of our insurance coverage.
