FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Total Cost of Vehicle - $12,892.08 DESCRIPTION At the regular City Council meeting on October 9, 1989 , the City Council authorized Staff to solicit bids for an unmarked police vehicle. Pursuant to the adopted purchasing ordinance the sealed bids were opened on Friday, October 20, 1989. The bid specifications requested price quotations on a used 1989 four door full-sized sedan with a maximum of 25,000 original miles on the odometer, having a minimum engine size of 6 cylinders with a displacement of no less than 3 .8 liters, fuel injected, and having all standard, factory installed equipment and options as specified in the bid specifications for the vehicle. The vehicles described in the three received bids are similar in nature, all complying with the bid specifications. The following breakdown compares the purchase price of the individual vehicle as submitted by the respective companies: 1) Avis Car Sales 1989 Buick LeSabre or 1989 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Base Price: $11,999.00 Delivery/Tax/Prep. 893 .08 NET COST $12,892 .08 NOTE: This includes the remainder of the factory, 3 year/50 ,000 mile warranty. 2) Hertz Car Sales 1989 Ford Crown Victoria Base Price: $13,488.00 Delivery/Tax/Prep. 876.72 NET COST $14 , 364.72 NOTE: No warranty available as vehicle intended for law enforcement use. 3) National Car Sales 1989 Buick LeSabre . Base Price: $12,575.00 Delivery/Tax/Prep. 880 . 25 NET COST $13 ,455.25 NOTE: This includes the remainder of the factory, 3 year/50, 000 mile warranty. Delivery is anticipated by November 14 , 1989, and the expenditure will be included in the 1989-90 budget. Sufficient funds were budgeted for the purpose of this purchase. Mileage - Mileage will range from 24 ,000 - 28 , 000 on bid units and will be determined by the availability of vehicles at the time bid is awarded.
