FINANCIAL
STATEMENT: There is no financial impact associated with the City's
participation in the study group.
DISCUSSION: At the City Council meeting of October 9, 1989, Gib Marguth,
member of the Tri-Valley Citizens for a Valley Performing Arts Center (CVPAC)
Committee requested the City of Dublin's participation on a valleywide
Performing Arts Center Feasibility Study Committee.
In response to Mr. Marguth's request, the City Council appointed Councilmember
Linda Jeffery to represent the City on the Citizens for a Valley Performing
Arts Center (CVPAC) Committee. In addition, Council directed staff to solicit
participation from various community groups, theatre groups, the schools, the
Parks & Recreation Commission as well as from the community at large.
Accordingly, staff has contacted the above groups and issued a press release.
In response, the following individuals have expressed interest in serving on
the Committee:
1. Dan Downey, Dublin Parks & Recreation Commissioner
2. Michal Dittrich, Manager, Community Affairs, Viacom
3. Robert Howerton, Dublin resident
4. Sherry Wright, Dublin resident
5. Dr. Edmund Kemprud, Dublin resident
It is anticipated that the Committee will hold its first meeting within the
next two months to begin discussing the needs assessment in terms of goals,
objectives and the overall assessment process.
Staff recommends that the City Council appoint the individuals who have
expressed an interest in this Committee and direct staff to notify the CVPAC
Committee of the City's appointments.
