AGENDA STATEMENT
CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: November 27, 1989
SUBJECT: Designation of the City of Dublin's Agent in
Accordance with the Disaster Relief Act, Public Law 228,
93rd Congress (Prepared by: Lou Ann Riera-Texeira,
Administrative Assistant to the City Manager)
EXHIBITS: 94/' Resolution Designating the City of Dublin's Agent
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution
FINANCIAL
STATEMENT: None.
DISCUSSION: As a result of the October 17, 1989 earthquake, the City of
Dublin sustained minimal damage. The only physical damage the City
experienced was a broken soda ash feeder (estimated cost $1,200) located at
the. Dublin Swim Center. Additional costs the City incurred as a result of
the earthquake were related to police and maintenance personnel (preliminary
estimate approximately $4,200) .
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the State Office of
Emergency Services have requested all local agencies to carefully track and
report all costs incurred as a result of the earthquake. In addition, the
federal and state authorities request that each agency file a "Disaster
Assistance Application." ,
In order to file this application, the City must first designate an agency
agent. The agent would be responsible for providing relevant information to
the state and federal authorities and for filing the appropriate disaster
assistance documentation.
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached Resolution
designating the City Manager as the agent for the City of Dublin.
