HomeMy WebLinkAbout4.2 Fundng for TDA Projects CITY OF DUBLIN AGENDA STATEMENT City Council Meeting Date: December 21, 1989 SUBJECT: Authorization to Apply for Funding for Transportation Development Act Projects (Report by Public Works Director Lee Thompson) EXHIBITS ATTACHED: Resolution RECOMMENDATION: ' Adopt Resolution directing Staff to apply for funding. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The City has requested $75,000 TDA funding for each project, which would cover the estimated cost of each of the two projects. DESCRIPTION: City Staff has submitted two projects for consideration for Transportation Development Act (TDA) funding. The maximum funding that any one project can receive is $75,000. If approved, this funding would be available in the 1990-91 fiscal year. 1) Catch Basin Grate Replacement Program, Phase II: This program provides for the phased replacement of existing catch basin grates with a new standard bicycle grate. The City has received TDA funding approval for the first phase of the project, which is currently out to bid, and the grates are expected to be installed early in 1990. The first phase is expected to provide grates for approximately half of the existing catch basins in the City, depending on the bid price received; the second phase would be expected to provide grates for the remaining basins. This project is presently in the five-year Capital Improvement Program, scheduled for 1990-91, and funding is indicated from the General Fund. 2) Dougherty Road Bike Path, Phase II: This project would construct a two- way bike path along the east side of Dougherty Road, from the end of the Phase I bike path at Amador Valley Boulevard to the intersection of Willow Creek Drive. This would provide a bikeway approximately halfway to the City Limit Line from Amador Valley Boulevard. A future project would complete construction of the bike path to the City Limit line and connect to a future bike path indicated on the Contra Costa County Bike Way Plan. This path, when complete, would become an interconnecting bicycle transportation route. This project is not presently in the five-year Capital Improvement Program and, if funded, would need to be included in next year's update. Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the Resolution directing Staff to apply for TDA funding for these projects. ITEM NO. .2...
