Report by Diane Lowart, Recreation Director. EXHIBITS ATTACHED : No.e RECOMMENDATION : hould the City Council wish to decorate and light the clock tower, a budget transfer from either the Contingent Reserve or an additional appropriation from the Unallocated Reserves will be necessary. FINANCIAL STATEMENT : Cost estimate to light the clock tower - $2 ,120 to $4,800 . DESCRIPTION : At the October 29 , 1990 meeting of the Dublin City Council, the Council approved the preliminary plans developed by Staff for the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony scheduled for Monday, December 3 , 1990 . In addition, the Council directed Staff to investigate the feasibility of decorating the clock tower. Staff has met with representatives from Western Scenic Studio to discuss the logistics of decorating the clock tower. A number of alternatives have been developed for review by the City Council: Alternate 1 Place lighted wreaths on each of the three clock faces. Cost Estimate: $2,405. Alternate 2 Attach a nine-foot high lighted silhouette of a Christmas tree on top of the clock tower. Cost Estimate: $2,120. Alternate 3 Outline the perimeter of the clock tower with lights. In order to attach the strands of lights to the clock towers, small holes would have to be drilled into the sandstone and molly bolts inserted into the holes. Cost Estimate: $3,160. A cost savings would be realized should the Council wish to combine any of the alternates. For example, if the Council elected to proceed with all three alternates the cost would be approximately $4 , 800 . Currently there is $500 available in the Fiscal Year 1990-91 Budget for this event. Should the City Council wish to pursue decorating the clock tower, a budget transfer from either the Contingent Reserve or a additional appropriation from the Unallocated Reserves will be necessary.
