The Committee decided that before holding a kick-off celebration or
planning any other customer service activity, the City should first
develop a customer service motto. The intent is to use the motto on
special Customer Service stationary, prizes and related City property as
determined by the City. The ideal motto should be "short and catchy"
and should reflect the City' s philosophy regarding customer service.
In order to accomplish this task and to involve all City personnel, the
Committee elected to hold a "motto contest. " All City personnel
including regular City employees, temporary and seasonal employees, City
Council and Commissioners and contract personnel were invited to
participate in the motto contest. There was an overwhelming response to
the contest. Over 30 people participated in the contest and 157 mottos
along with several creative logo suggestions were submitted.
The Customer Service Committee narrowed the list of 157 mottos to FIVE!
Subsequently, a ballot containing the top five mottos was distributed to
all personnel for the official vote. Once again, the response was
tremendous. Over 80 votes were counted and the motto selected by City
personnel is "CITY OF DUBLIN - COMMITTED TO COMMUNITY SERVICE. "
The Committee suggests that the winning motto be officially announced at
the Customer Service Kick-off celebration which is tentatively scheduled
for June 24, 1991, 5 : 30 p.m. in the Regional Meeting, and that the
winner be recognized at that time. Lastly, the Committee recommends
that the City Council officially approve the winning motto.
