DESCRIPTION One of the 1991 goals adopted by the City
Council was to plan a celebration to commemorate ten years of
cityhood. Consequently at the March 25, 1991 meeting of the
City Council a committee was formed to plan the celebration and
Mayor Snyder and Vice-Mayor Jeffery were appointed to the committee.
The initial committee consisted of the Mayor, Vice-Mayor, Recreation
Director and the Assistant To The City Manager. The committee
developed the following preliminary ideas:
1. Incorporate the theme of ten years of cityhood in the 1992
City calendar (completed) .
2 . Develop special City letterhead commemorating ten years of
cityhood (completed) .
3 . Coordinate a reception with the Dublin Fine Arts Foundation
to dedicate the donor tile wall in the Civic Center Plaza.
4. Plan a ten year anniversary dinner.
5. Plan a fourth of July family picnic.
6. Incorporate the theme of ten years of cityhood into special
events, i.e. St. Patrick's Day Celebration, Tree Lighting,
etc.
Ten Year Anniversary Dinner
In order to coordinate the planning of the ten year anniversary
dinner, a subcommittee was formed comprised of members of the
community. The subcommittee has been meeting over the past several
months and has developed the following preliminary plans for the
dinner:
Date Saturday, February 1, 1992
Location Dublin Civic Center
Theme "Evening At The Civic"
The evening will begin with no-host cocktails and hors d'oeuvres with
entertainment provided by a celtic harpist. A sit-down dinner will
follow the cocktail hour and the suggested menu includes Caesar
Salad, Choice of Prime Rib or Salmon, New Potatoes, Fresh Seasonal
Vegetables and Dessert. Throughout dinner guests will be entertained
by a three-piece combo and a magician performing magic tricks at each
table. Dancing to live music provided by the three-piece combo will
conclude the evening. Guests will be presented with a momento of the
evening to commemorate the City's birthday celebration.
A limited number of tickets will be available for the "Evening At The
Civic" and the suggested ticket price is $37.50.
The preliminary budget for the "Evening At The Civic" is $8,900 which
will be offset with revenue in the amount of $6, 000.

Plans are also underway for a reception to dedicate the tile wall in
the plaza of the Dublin Civic Center. The tile wall was conceived by
the Dublin Fine Arts Foundation, who have sold commemorative tiles to
members of the community as part of an ongoing fund-raising effort.
The reception is tentatively scheduled for Friday, January 31, 1992
and will include the tile wall dedication by representatives of the
Dublin Fine Arts Foundation followed by a reception of light hors
d'oeuvres sponsored by the City.
The preliminary budget for the reception is $2 , 000.
Fourth of July Family Picnic
This event is in the preliminary planning stages. The committee
envisions that this event will be held at the Dublin Sports Grounds
on Saturday, July 4, 1992. It will be billed as an "old fashioned
family picnic" with activities designed for both family and individual
participation. Local service clubs will be invited to participate in
the event as well.
With regards to the St. Patrick's Day Celebration, the theme will be
incorporated into the parade as well as in the other activities. In
addition, merchants will be encouraged to have promotions rolling back
the prices to 1982 or offering ten percent discounts on merchandise.
It is the Staff's recommendation that the City Council review and
approve the preliminary plans made to date for the "Evening At The
Civic" and the reception to dedicate the tile wall. Additional
information on the Fourth of July Family Picnic will be presented to
the City Council at a future meeting.
