The concept was to legitimize the group' s structure into a Council similar to the Tri-Valley Transportation Council . There would be one official representative from each jurisdiction. The Tri-Valley Council agreed to take the concept back to their respective City Councils for decision. The Tri-Valley Affordable Housing Committee is currently structured as an ad hoc group of elected officials and staffs from the Tri-Valley jurisdictions . The purpose of the group is to promote affordable housing within the Tri-Valley area. Mayor Snyder is the City Council ' s representative and Councilmember Burton- is -the alternative representative to the group. If the City Council believes that a more formalized council structure is needed to serve the group' s purpose, Staff would recommend that the City Council 1) authorize the. Mayor to send a letter to the Tri-Valley Council . supporting the Council concept and 2) appoint one official representative and one official alternative representative. If, however, the City Council believes that an ad hoc committee structure, working in conjunction with the Tri-Valley Council, can adequately serve the group' s purpose, Staff would recommend that the City Council authorize the Mayor to send a letter to the Tri-Valley Council opposing the Council concept and supporting the ad hoc committee structure. • ITEM NO.
