Report prepared by Jeff Baker, Assistant Community Development Director EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Planning Commission will consider adopting rules for conducting Planning Commission meetings The proposed rules are consistent with the recently adopted amendments to the Dublin Municipal Code Chapter 2 12 pertaining to the Planning Commission and reflect current practices RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Planning Commission. 1) Receive Staff presentation, 2) Take testimony from the public, 3) Deliberate, and 4) Adopt a resolution adopting Rules for Conducting Planning Commission Meetings - 1 ) Subm d By Reviewed By . Assistant Community Development Director Community Development Director COPIES TO: ITEM NO.: 9 2 Page 1 of 2 G\PLANNING COMMISSION\Planning Commission 2616\PCSR PC Rules 4 12 16 clocx DESCRIPTION: The City Council recently adopted amendments to Dublin Municipal Code (DMC) Chapter 2 12 related to the Planning Commission. Please refer to the City Council Staff Report and Ordinance for details regarding these amendments (Attachments 1 and 2) Chapter 212 requires, among other things, that the Planning Commission adopt rules for conducting meetings (Section 2.12.040.C). The existing Rules were last amended in 2005 (Attachment 3) These rules are no longer consistent with Chapter 2 12 or current practices. Therefore, Staff is proposing the adoption of new Rules for Conducting Planning Commission Meetings (Attachment 4). The proposed Planning Commission rules are based on the Rules for Conducting City Council meetings. The proposed rules are consistent with the recent amendments to DMC Chapter 2.12, consistent with current practices, and reflect changes in applicable laws which include the Brown Act. The proposed rules provide a framework for running Planning Commission meetings, maintaining decorum, and opportunities for members of the public to address the Planning Commission.
