HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 5.1 Tri-Valley Fund Waive Rental Fees CITY OF DUBLIN AGENDA STATEMENT CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: August 12 , 1985 SUBJECT Tri-Valley Community Fund Request to Waive Rental Rates EXHIBITS ATTACHED Letter of Request RECOMMENDATION Consider FINANCIAL STATEMENT $44 . 00-$72 . 00 DESCRIPTION The Tri-Valley Community Fund has requested the use of Shannon Center on September. 19 , 1985 for their annual fundraising campaign kickoff reception and is requesting that the rental charge be waived. The Tri-Valley Community Fund is a non-profit, tax exempt charitable fund established to provide a stable source of funding for agencies which provide , educational, cultural, health, recreational and human care services in the communities of the Tri-Valley area. At the regular City Council meeting on May 29, 1984, a Resolution establishing the facility rental rates for the Shannon Community Center was adopted. The current policy has no provision for the waiver of fees , instead resident and non-profit groups are charged at a lesser rate . Any exception to this policy would require City Council approval . Below is a breakdown of the rental rates for the proposed function: $ 7 . 00 - Set-up charge ( 1 hr @ $7 . 00 ) 16 . 00 - Room Rental (West Room 2 hrs @ $8 . 00 ) 14 . 00 - Building Attendant ( 2 hrs @ $7 . 00 ) 7 . 00 - Clean-up charge ( 1 hr @ $7 . 00) $44 . 00 - Sub-Total 28 . 00 - Insurance (May provide own coverage) $72 . 00 TOTAL It should be noted that a building attendant will be in attendance regardless of whether the function is held because of City sponsored classes scheduled for other rooms in the Center. Last year the Tri-Valley Community Fund held . this event at Ravenswood with the cost of the facility being absorbed by the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District. It is the recommendation of�' staff that the City Council give consideration to the Tri-Valley Community Fund request . ----------------------------------------------------------------- ITEM NO. f - 1IZ1-VALLEY COMMUNITY FUND August 7, 1985 Diane Lowart Director Dublin Parks and Recreation Dept. Box 2340 Dublin, CA 94568 Dear Diane: The Tri-Valley Community Fund is requesting the use of the room and patio area located in the west side of the Shannon Community Center for a reception and victory party on Thursday, September 19th. We would be using the area from 5 to 7 :30 p.m. and plan to serve catered food and beverages to approximately 100 people. . The Tri-Valley Community Fund is a non-profit tax exempt charitable fund established in 1983 . The purpose of the fund is to provide a stable source of funding for local agencies which provide educational, cultural, health, recreational and human care services to the Tri-Valley community. The purpose of the reception is to honor the major contributors to the last Community Fund campaign and to kick-off the start of the new fall campaign. We are also requesting that the fee for the use of the specified area be waived due to the nature of the event.
