STAFF REPORT CITY CLERK
File #150-70
CITY COUNCIL
DATE:April 19, 2016
TO:
Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers
FROM:
Christopher L. Foss, City Manager
SUBJECT:
Recognition of St. Patrick's Day Fest, Shamrock 5K Fun Run and Walk, and
Eggstravaganza Sponsors
Prepared by Tegan McLane, Cultural Arts & Heritage Manager
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City Council will receive a report on sponsorships for the St. Patrick’s Day Festival,
Shamrock 5K Fun Run and Walk, and Eggstravaganza, and formally recognize the sponsors for
these events and present certificates of appreciation.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The City received more than $72,000 in cash contributions from the sponsors. Additionally, in-
kind donations of goods and services were also received for the three events. In-kind donations
reduce the amount of money the City would ordinarily have had to spend on things like
advertising, lodging for visiting entertainers and food for the VIP reception. In-kind donations
also serve as prizes for the Shamrock 5K Fun Run and Walk raffle.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council formally accept sponsorship donations for the St. Patrick’s
Day Festival, Shamrock 5K Fun Run and Walk, and Eggstravaganza and recognize the
sponsoring organizations.

Although rain dampened attendance numbers at this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival to an
estimated 17,000 visitors over the course of the weekend, festival sponsorships reached a
record high, with 26 businesses providing $64,500 in cash sponsorships.
The St. Patrick’s Day Weekend included the Shamrock 5K Fun Run and Walk which had more
than 1,900 runners registered. Approximately 1,000 of those braved the rain to actually run or
walk in the event, which had four cash sponsors whose donations totaled $7,750.
Dublin’s Eggstravaganza egg hunt event, held just two weeks later at Emerald Glen Park, had a
sold-out crowd of 600 children, plus their parents and grandparents. Eggstravaganza also
surpassed its previous sponsorship history, with two cash sponsors totaling $900.
A large number of in-kind donations were also received for all three events. Businesses giving
$300 or more in in-kind donations are listed in this Staff Report.
In recognition of their monetary and in-kind contributions, the following sponsors and
organizations will be presented with certificates of appreciation for supporting these City of
Dublin events.
