HomeMy WebLinkAbout4.03 George Filstead Claim 00 - 66 CITY OF DUBLIN AGENDA STATEMENT CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: August 11, 1986 SUBJECT Claim. submitted by George Filstead July 3 , 1986 EXHIBITS ATTACHED Claim Form RECOMMENDATION L : Deny the claim and direct Staff to notify the claimant FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Total Claim is for $250, 000 which includes : Emotional Distress $100, 000 Attorney/Private Investigation Fees 10, 000 Punitive Damages 140, 000 DESCRIPTION George Filstead has filed a claim against the City of Dublin alleging among other things, false arrest, harassment, filing a false police report . Mr. Filstead alleges that this created great emotional distress . The alleged incident occurred on May 15, 1986, which was during the time when the City was uninsured. Staff anticipates that the entire claim will be tendered to Alameda County since it involves the Police Services Contract. The rejection of the claim within 45 days of receipt will protect the City ' s interest pursuant to the time schedule stated in California Government Code Section 945 . 6 . Staff recommends that the City Council deny the claim and direct Staff to notify the claimant.
