A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF
O
D U B L I N , C A L I F O R N I A
WHEREAS , mental retardation is a problem which today affects 6 million
individuals and their families across America; and
WHEREAS, the most effective methods for prevention and alleviation of this
serious problem are public knowledge and understanding; and
WHEREAS, the potential for citizens with mental retardation to function
more independently and productively must be fostered ; and
WHEREAS, community based programs and services significantly enhance the
lives of children and adults with mental retardation; and
WHEREAS, the Association for Retarded Citizens - Alameda County is a leader
in providing quality services and programs for children and adults with
mental retardation; and
WHEREAS, during the month of March, the Association for Retarded Citizens -
Alameda County in conjunction with ARC' s all across the nation are carrying
on educational campaigns ; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Dublin does hereby proclaim �
March, 1987 as "ARC - MENTAL RETARDATION AWARENESS MONTH" in this City and \ \\
urges that the citizens of this City give full support to this effort toward u
enabling people with mental retardation to lead productive lives and achieve
their potential.
