This ordinance enables the City to establish certain City streets as through and local truck routes. Streets so designated will become part of the City's Traffic Code, and "Truck Route" signs may then be posted. Staff is not designating any streets at this time but may do so when the overall Traffic Code is adopted. Staff recommends that the City Council waive the reading and adopt the ordinance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ITEM NO. COPIES TO: ORDINANCE NO. -87 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN ESTABLISHING THROUGH AND LOCAL TRUCK ROUTES The City Council of the City of Dublin does ordain as follows: ARTICLE 1. DEFINITIONS Section 1. MOTOR TRUCK AND TRUCKING COMBINATIONS. For the purpose of this Title, a motor truck is a motor vehicle over twenty (20) feet in length or exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of four and one-half (4 1/2) tons designed, used, or maintained primarily for the transportation of property; and a "trucking combination" is any combination of vehicles designed, used, or maintained for the transportation of property coupled together exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of four and one-half (4 1/2) tons or a total length of twenty (20) feet. Section 2. THROUGH MOTOR TRUCK OR TRUCKING COMBINATION. A through motor truck or trucking combination is any motor truck or trucking combination as hereinbefore defined, entering this City from any point outside of the City and destined for any other point located outside the City of Dublin. Section 3. LOCAL MOTOR TRUCK OR TRUCKING COMBINATION. A local motor truck or trucking combination is any motor truck or trucking combination as hereinabove defined which is not a through motor truck or trucking combination as hereinabove defined. ARTICLE 2. TRUCK ROUTES Section 4. THROUGH TRUCK ROUTES - DESIGNATED. The through truck routes shall be as designated by the City Council by resolution, which routes shall be included in the Traffic Code. Section S. LOCAL TRUCK ROUTES - DESIGNATED. The local truck routes shall. be as designated by the City Council by resolution, which routes shall be included in the Traffic Code. Section 6. THROUGH AND LOCAL TRUCKS - RESTRICTIONS. (a) THROUGH TRUCKS. When authorized signs are in place giving notice thereof, it shall be unlawful for the operator of a through motor truck or trucking combination to operate, stop, stand, or park such through motor truck or trucking combination on any streets or highways in this City other than those streets or highways listed in the Traffic Code as Through Truck Routes. (b) LOCAL TRUCKS. When authorized signs are in place giving notice thereof, it shall be unlawful for the operator of a local motor truck or trucking combination to operate, stop, stand, or park on any streets or highways in this City other than the streets or highways listed in the Traffic Code as Local Truck Routes. Section 7. EFFECTIVE DATE AND POSTING OF ORDINANCE. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days from and after the date of its passage. The City Clerk of the City of Dublin shall cause this Ordinance to be posted in at least three (3) public places in the City of Dublin in accordance with Section 36933 of the Government Code of the State of California.
