Direct staff to notify applicants of the status of their application FINANCIAL STATEMENT None DESCRIPTION At the February 9 , 1987 meeting of the Dublin City Council , the Council approved formation . of the Dublin High School Grounds Improvement Task Force. The purpose of the Task Force is as follows: To investigate the need for additional indoor and outdoor facilities for community use and identify those areas of Dublin High School that could be upgraded to fulfill this need. The Task Force Guidelines are attached in Exhibit A. Staff was directed to advertise the Task Force openings and provide the Council with applications of those members of the community interested in serving on the Task Force. At the April 13 , 1987 meeting of the City Council , the Council determined that there was not sufficient community interest to pursue formation of the Task Force and delayed appointments until more community interest was shown. As you will recall the membership of the Task Force was to consist of representation as follows: City Representatives Community Groups Recreation Director Sports Oriented ( 2 ) Park & Recreation Commission - 2 Non-Sports Oriented ( 2 ) School District Representatives Members At Large - 5 Dublin High School Principal AVJUHSD Board - 1 Students - 2 To date staff has received a total of 18 applications. There are enough applicants for the member at large and sports group categories , however the non-sports group and student categories are lacking. Now that the school unification issue has been decided, staff feels that it is time to move forward with the Task Force. In addition, staff feels that the scope of study should be broadened to include all of the school facilities in Dublin. As all of the school sites will be under the jurisdiction of one school board, it makes sense to look at the District as a whole instead of just one facility. At the March 23 , 1987 meeting of the City Council , it was determined that the Task Force members would be appointed by the entire City Council , not individual appointments . Therefore it is recommended that the appointments to the Task Force be made by the Council utilizing the applications received to date. For those categories where there are not sufficient applicants , staff will continue to seek out interested persons. ----------------------------------------------------------------- ITEM NO. •, Copies to: Park & Recreation Commission Joan King, DHS Principal EXHIBIT A DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL GROUNDS IMPROVEMENT TASK FORCE PURPOSE To investigate the need for additional indoor and outdoor facilities for community use and identify those areas of Dublin High School that could be upgraded to fulfill this need.
